He showers in the spare bedroom now though, since he kept making me late for work, and well, we’d never leave the house if he didn’t.
We always arrive together, and he always walks me to my office. We showed a united front right from the beginning, and there was no use pretending or hiding the fact we were together.
The marketing team really is like a family, and I love it. It made me miss having friends at work. It’d been so long.
“See you later,” he kisses me, walking out of my office and back to the elevator, where he would climb another two floors. He kept saying he wanted to move my office to his floor so that I’m closer, but we both know we’d be less productive with our day’s if we did that.
My assistant brings in a cup of coffee and puts it on my desk. It doesn’t matter how many times I tell her I can get my own, she still continues to bring it.
After the first two weeks, I gave up and just accepted that she was going to keep on doing it. It’s great having the sun coming through my window every day and the views are amazing.
The team that Adrien has working here is top-notch and are more friendly and laid back than I was expecting.
They respect me without being standoffish, which is the perfect blend in my eye.
Of course, finding my feet that first week, I felt like a swan, having to be calm on the outside, but inside I was just trying to stay afloat.
Being in charge of the hotel marketing also meant I was more hands on with Adrien, but Simon assures me that given the choice, he wanted the outside contracts, anyway. This meant I was completely Team Banks and since I’m going to marry this guy one day, it makes sense that he wants me on the brand.
Catherine: SO……
I look at my phone, confused.
Sara: What?
Sara: You’re going to have to use more words if you want me to understand.
I put my phone down and open my message app on my laptop. It's much easier texting my best friend when I can just open a window on my laptop.
Catherine: Still no proposal?
This made me laugh. Ever since Ady told me he was going to marry me at Catherine and Bryan’s wedding. She’s been expecting a real proposal almost twice a week.
I’m in no rush. Not to say I don’t want it. I do. I really do. But we’re in a good place at the moment.
I’ve finally found my footing at work. I’m getting used to the house, well I’m almost getting used to the house.
My assistant brings in stuff for me to look over, and I’m glad to see Catherine has got herself distracted.
Before I know it, it’s lunchtime and I close my work down on my laptop. I head up to Adriens office and Jenna greets me with a huge smile.
“He’s on a call, but he said you can just go in,” she says while typing away on her laptop.
I walk in and sit on the couch at the far end of his office.
We’re supposed to be going out for lunch, but I can tell by the sound of his voice that this call is going to go on longer.
I walk over to his desk, and that grin that has broken a thousand hearts before spreads across his face.
He sits himself up straighter in his chair and raises his eyebrow at me. No surprises about what he’s expecting.
I push him out of the way and open his drawer with the menus in.
Without breaking any conversation with whoever is on the other end, I roll my eyes and walk back over to the couch, laughing.
If he thinks I’m going to be anything but professional while Jenna is right outside his door, he can think again.
