“Ady, I’m not unaware. But this was a battle I wanted to choose not to fight you on. Don’t expect though, that when we’re living together for me to be this easy with your bossiness.”
That makes me laugh.
Catherine always said I’d end up with someone who didn’t bend to my every whim, and while Sara was bending a lot at the moment, I know it’s not going to always be like this.
More and more I’m seeing the woman I used to go toe-to-toe with in the office.
A few hourslater and a couple of meetings under my belt, I get in the car and see Sara sat in the backseat, a book in her hand and a coffee in the drink holder. She looks over the pages with pink in her cheeks.
“Hey. Ready to head off and see your new home?”
“I can’t wait. I’ve never been to Los Angeles.”
“It’s different from New York. I’m not sure if you’re going to love it straight away.”
“I will not miss the New York winters, that’s for sure. Last winter, I almost froze to death.”
I look over at her and cock my eyebrow at her.
It usually works a charm with the people who work for me, but Sara just laughs and goes back to her book.
We spend a comfortable silence on the way to the airport, and we quickly move onto the plane. She obviously wants to get home as quickly as I do.
“Mr Banks, Miss Raine. Good to see you again. We are hoping to leave in about twenty minutes. So just take a seat, and we’ll have you in Los Angeles in no time. We’re hoping to land at approximately 5PM Pacific time.”
“Thank you.” Sara sits in the same chair as yesterday.
“I need to finish doing some work.”
“Don’t worry about me. I’ve got my book,” she smiles, opening it again.
