Idecided to not let Sara in on the surprise until we got to the airport. There is no way in hell I’m letting her fly to New York on a commercial flight when I have my private jet. What I’ve not told her is that I’m staying with her for a couple of days. I’ve worked in a couple of meetings and, well, I was due a trip to New York soon, anyway.

Oh, of course Jenna said she was ok with these changes in plans, but I don’t know how true that is. I’m sure she’s been putting up with a lot of hassle from everyone in my absence. I know it’s her job, but still I need to book her a spa trip or something.

We pull up at the airport, and Sara slowly turns to look at me. I can tell she’s on to something.

“What have you done?”

“Just canceled your flight and put you on OUR flight to New York.”

She beams at me. That’s when I know I’ve made the right decision. Well, a team effort, really. Catherine got me her flight information. I did the rest.

“You’re coming with me to New York?”

“Of course. You didn’t think I was going to spend the whole week apart from you. I’ve just got used to having you around. And I was due for a trip in a few weeks anyway, so I just moved my trip up. This way, I can help you get moved, which will mean you’re moving quicker.”

“You’ve got it all planned out, huh?”

Anyone else, I might have thought they’d be annoyed that I’d done all this, but I know from talking to Bryan that Sara was only going back to move everything as quickly as possible. This just meant we could speed things along. And I’m all for moving things along. Quickly.

Our driver drives up to the plane, and she squeals and bounces up and down in her seat. It really is a sight to see her so excited.

She’s grinning from ear to ear and looks like a kid at Christmas.

I step out and hold my hand out to help her out of the backseat.

“Ady. How loaded are you?” She asks.

Her intentions aren’t rude or to get money out of me. We didn’t come from money, and I wasn’t as wealthy as I am now the last time we were together.

“I have enough for us to be comfortable for a very long time.”

She’s going to get a shock when we get to my house in LA. We climb the steps up to the plane.

“Mr Banks,” the air steward greets us with a smile.

“Miss Raine, welcome.”

Sara turns to me and smiles.

“As you are aware, you are the only passengers on our flight today. Take a seat anywhere. We’ll get you in the air and on your way to New York as soon as we get the all clear to fly.”

“Thank you” says Sara.

I grab hold of her arm and sit in one of the seats, Sara sits next to me. It’s all still new to me flying privately.

“I could get used to this.” Sara says, getting herself comfy, or at least trying to.

“Well, get used to it.”

We are soon up in the air, and her excitement is worth everything. The air steward brings us a glass of champagne each.

“So the company doesn't mind you using the company plane for personal use?”

“Well, it wouldn’t matter if they did. It’s not the company plane. It’s mine. I mean, I often let the company use it, but the plane’s mine.”

Her jaw is open now. I’d never really understood the whole being gob smacked until it was presented to me like this. Her cheeks are going that pink they go when she’s turned on. I raise my eyebrow at her knowingly.
