The restof the wedding goes along as beautiful as you’d imagine. I sneak glances at Adrien, and he sneaks them at me. We smile at the correct times, but underneath it all, there is a lustfulness that I feel inside me. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve hardly seen him today, or it’s the occasional eye-fucking he sends my way. But I need Adrien Banks like I need my next breath. It scares me a little. I shouldn’t need this man as much as I do. I guess we truly are meant to be with each other, Catherine and Bryan say their ‘I do’s’ and I get a little glassy eyed.

Adrien doesn’t take his eyes off me the whole time.

They kiss each other and the entire room cheers. I am so lost in the moment it is hard to forget how many people are here. Catherine smiles at me, and I’m so unbelievably happy for her. Adrien takes my arm again, kisses the top of my head and I fold into him, just wanting to be in his arms.

“That’ll be us next.” I can hear his smile as he says it.

I also hear Katie’s grumble behind me.

I’m still shocked that Adrien thinks that way. Guess I’m not the only one lost in the moment. He can’t even blame it on anything. I’m going to love seeing him back track this tomorrow. Because we ‌have tomorrow, and the next day and the day after that.

“Don’t look so worried.” He kisses the top of my hair again.

Katie grumbles louder this time. I glance back at her. I hate girls like her, but I refuse to spoil anything for my best friend in front of me. I feel the tension in Adrien’s body, and I can tell he is processing all the same things as I am.

He looks behind, and Bryan’s other grooms man looks like he wants the floor to open up in front him.

Catherine sure knowshow to throw a party. I cannot tell you how glad I am that now all my maid of honour duties are over with. My feet are killing me and the night is still young. I look over the dance floor and Adrien is stood with Bryan and some friends of theirs, but he keeps looking over to me, and it makes me feel special.

I feel her sit down beside me, and she puts her arm round me.

“Please tell me you’ve managed to sneak off and have a moment just for the two of you?” I ask her, sinking into her shoulder as we look at our guys.

“Is the Pope catholic? Of course, we have. It wasn't easy, but we had a little help. There’s a reason he’s the best man.”

“Well good. I hear it’s important.”

She laughs at me as I pull away from her.

“This’ll be you next,” she smiles.

I look at her, I don’t know if it's hope or what , but whatever it is she sees, she smirks. Catherine just smirks at me. I’m guessing by her choice in phrasing, she heard every word.

“So you heard him then,” I say, sipping my champagne.

“I did.”

Ha ha ha, ha I laugh.

“That is the worst proposal I have ever heard.”

“Catherine, there is no way in hell that was any kind of proposal.”

“When have you not known Adrien Banks to get everything he wants?”

I guess she’s right.

“Well, he’s going to have to redo it and better,” I laugh.

He scowls at us from across the room as if he can sense he’s being talked about. That just makes Catherine and me laugh even more. He rolls his eyes at us now, obviously getting bored by whatever stimulating conversation is happening near the bar. The man can be too charming sometimes.

As soon as Catherine gets pulled away by family, Katie sits herself in the same chair and there is a part of me, a childish part I know, who wants to just get up and leave.

“You know Adrien is only with you because he pities you.”

She oozes confidence as she sips her drink.

“I heard him talking with Bryan. He feels sorry for you, sure, but he also knows that he can use your weakness for his benefit. The guy loves playing with people's feelings. I should know.”
