“I’m fine.”

Bryan: Ady has the shit-eating grin again.

Bryan: I’m guessing Sara dropped the L word for the first time.

I put my head in my hands, hiding my face from Catherine.

Catherine: Yeah, I think you’re right. Look guys, I love you both dearly, but I’m signing off.

Bryan: Speak to you later.

Adrien: Sara. I love you too.

I peep at my phone, then at Catherine. Her mouth is wide open. It’s comical, really.

“Wow.” She finally says. “That was fast.”

“I know. I can’t believe I did that.”

I hide my face in my hands again.

“Not you. Adrien. I guess I was right then. I just didn’t realize how right I was.”

I sit back in my chair and decide to eat away my feelings.

“You are in so deep, I fucking love it. Next, you’ll be telling me you're moving across the country to be with him.”

I stop with my pastry midway to my mouth. Fuck. I made a big deal to Ady about not telling them. But if I lie, Catherine is going to be pissed.

“You’re fucking kidding me.”

I guess it doesn’t count if I don’t actually say the words. When did everyone start being able to read me like an open book?

Catherine gets her phone out again.

Catherine: You talked her into moving to Los Angeles? How the fuck did you do that?

Catherine: I’ve been trying for over a year to get her to move out here.

Adrien: I guess she loves my cock more than you.

Bryan: This is fucking hilarious.

Catherine: I guess she does.

My phone starts vibrating, and I see Ady’s face flashing on the screen.

“Hi. Are you ok?”

Adrien doesn’t even wait for me to answer before checking in on me. That is kind of sweet.

“I’m fine. We’ll talk later, ok?”

I don’t want to get into something over the phone, especially considering my best friend is sitting right across from me.

“Sure, I just wanted to check you were ok. Sara, I meant what I said last night. I’ve not been this happy in a long time. Even if it’s just hanging out. I love just being with you. I can’t wait for you to move in.”

My eyes start filling up. God, he can be so sweet.
