When Bryan came up with the bright idea of surprising the girls with a spa treat, I had to take it one step further. I called Susan, the woman I have managing the hotel, and told her she needed to bring in some extra staff for the day, not to worry about the overtime and that I’d cover it all.

She seemed surprised.

I don’t know why. Surely, I’m not that much of an ogre. They think I don’t like to do nice things for people. Hell, most of the time they don’t even hear from me. This place has some of the best people I have working for me. The place practically runs itself.

Maybe I needed to make sure all my staff are happy. I made a deal with myself when I went out on my own that I was not going to end up like my brother. People who worked for him wait until he was dead before complaining about things, so he probably could have changed if he knew. Of course, my brother probably knew all those things and just didn’t care. It’s why my brother and I were never close. Why I never got involved in the family business and why, despite all the success I’ve had on my own, I had no contact with my parents. He was the golden child.

I’m not my brother.

Bryan was surprised when half an hour ago I told him he needed to head down to the spa, too. I’d arranged for him and Catherine to have a couple's massage.

Now I’m alone, for the first time all week, and I’ve promised my assistant that I wouldn’t work on this vacation.

But now I was stuck for something to do, since I’d arranged for everyone to go off doing stuff.

I look across the living room and see Sara’s travel bag open.

I walk over and look at the latest book she’s reading.

It’s a black cover and doesn’t look like any of the romance books I used to see her with. But if I know Sara well enough to know, there is no way she didn’t bring at least one naughty romance book with her this weekend. Especially with her little bag of tricks from last night.

I take the book, lie on the couch and start reading. I’m so engrossed in the book that I don’t even hear Sara come into the apartment until she sits next to me and starts talking.

“Hey. What are you reading?” She asks, lifting my feet up and sitting down.

“Just a book I found lying around. I’m guessing it must be my girlfriend's book.”

I can feel her tense at my feet, but decide to let it go.

“Yeah, I don’t remember buying this book, but I must say I’m really enjoying it. My girlfriend really has great taste. I can’t wait to try something from one of these pages later.”

“Huh? So this girlfriend has good taste, does she?”

“Are you kidding me? She has great taste. Of course, I knew she liked her books a bit naughty, but I must admit I didn’t know how naughty.”

I currently have a hard on to prove it.

Sara grabs hold of my foot and starts rubbing it.

“Thank you for the spa treat. We all really enjoyed it. Bryan looked pretty happy too after his couple's massage with Catherine. That was thoughtful of you. I worried I’d come up here, and you’d be working.”

I hold the book up to her and I can feel the smile taking over my face.

“No, I was really enjoying this book.”

“Yeah, I see that.”

“I’m being serious, all guys should read this shit if they want to get in their girlfriends or wive's good books.”

“Oh, my friends and I have been saying that for years.”

She stands up and takes the book out of my hands.

“Maybe you should start a book club with your guy friends.”

You know, that’s not a bad idea.
