“Well, Jed, what do you want to talk about?” Tor asks.
Jed looks around and then shrugs. “I think it’s better if we talk in private.”
“I don’t keep secrets from my men, so you might as well get to it.” Jed doesn’t seem happy with Tor’s decision, but he knows better than to contradict him.
“We have a business proposition,” he says in a soft voice. I notice his guys must know about the business offer because they aren’t paying him any attention and rather their eyes keep on roaming about, especially in the women’s direction which is starting to piss me off.
“We have someone that wants guns.”
I see Tor tense; our main influx of money comes from the weapons that we transport for the Bratva Fury mafia family. It isn’t something we announce to anyone, and we are weary when someone comes calling talking about weapons.
“Why would you think I have guns?” Tor asks.
“No,” Jed replies as he leans closer to Tor. “We don’t want guns from you, we just want backup.”
“You’re shitting me?” Tor asks in an amused voice.
“No, man. Seriously, these guys, they don’t play around,” Jed confides, sounding a little weary.
“If you don’t trust them, then why are you getting into bed with them?” Tor asks with a raised brow as he folds his arms across his chest.
“They didn’t really give me a choice,” he confesses. “Come on, man. I know they wouldn’t try anything if you were there.”
“Going for a leak,” Terrence, one of Jed’s men says as he stands, making his way towards the back where we have the bathroom. I keep my eyes on him as he goes towards the corridor. I don’t trust these assholes.
“Who are they?” Garth asks from where he’s sitting next to Rev.
“I can’t tell you that unless you agree to help us.” Jed responds.
“Well, then we can’t help you as I can’t make a decision unless I know all the details,” Tor’s reply has Jed tensing.
“Wha…” The distressed sound has me snapping out of my chair. Garth, Tal and Tor have also stood. Garth and Tal are standing over Jed’s men threateningly as I make my way towards where I heard the sound. Tor is right behind me as we round the corner to find Terrence with his hand over Esmeralda’s mouth, a knife lifting to her neck.
Before he can stab her, I have moved in the blink of an eye and grabbed his wrist. “Motherfucker, you have no idea what you were about to do,” I growl, wanting to string him up by his balls, but leaving that to Dag that is going to skin this son of a bitch for thinking he could touch his mate.
“Sweetheart, are you okay?” Tor asks as I pull Terrence against the wall away from Esmeralda. I can see her frightened expression as she stares at Terrence. “Esmeralda?” Tor calls when she doesn’t answer.
“Ye…” she starts to say, but then gulps before continuing. “Yes, I’m okay.”
“Hold them!” Tor suddenly roars, the anger vibrating through him. He pulls out his phone from his back pocket, looking down at it as he grunts before answering. “She’s fine,” he says before Dag has a chance to answer, “but I want you back pronto, there is a situation you are going to want to sort out.” Being mated, we know when our women are distressed. Dag must have felt Esmeralda’s fear and contacted Tor. I can just imagine his anxiety thinking that something was happening to his woman.
“Yes, I’m sure she’s fine. Now stop wasting time and get here.” Tor says again before disconnecting the call. “Freya!” he calls.
A minute later Freya is hurrying towards us, her expression cautious as she looks at the fucker I am holding. “Sweetheart, why don’t you take Esmeralda outside for some air, also make sure Eirik’s in laws go with you.
Shit, I forgot about them. This was the worst timing ever to try to appease them that Siena will be safe with me. Pulling Terrance forward, I once again push him hard against the wall. “Why?” I ask quietly next to his ear, not wanting the others to hear.
“Tor, come on; we can talk this out.”
Tor turns towards Jed that is being held back by Tal. “You came here for this?” Tor asks quietly—too quietly. Anyone that knows Tor knows that this is the calm before the storm, and if you are clever, you will get the fuck out of Dodge before that storm explodes.
“We didn’t have an option; you need to believe me,” Jed pleads in a whining voice. “They would have ended us.”
Tor starts walking towards him, his body vibrating in anger. I pull Terrance forward, sliding my arm around his neck to subdue his struggles as I push him forward, noticing that the women and Siena’s parents have left.
Good, I don’t want my woman to witness anymore violence. She has had enough in her short life. Tor comes to a stop before Jed that gulps in nervousness. “You come into my club and try to kill one of our Ol’ Ladies. What did you think was going to happen to you?” Tor’s words start out softly but by the end they are filled with fury as his hands snap out and he lifts Jed off his feet by his Kutte.
“Don’t fucking move, asshole, or I’ll lay you out right now,” Garth orders as he pulls one of the other guys back into his chair that was about to stand.
