We know that there are still a few stragglers hiding, but it has become more and more difficult to find them. Humans don’t give us much of a run when it comes to fighting, but the Keres being like us is always a challenge. We are warriors, therefore sitting around is not one of our strong points.
“Fuck, we should have chosen that place,” Asgar grunts.
“How many were there?” Tor asks as he approaches from outside.
“There were only three,” Dane replies. “Which Ulrich disposed of without giving me a chance to get a punch in.”
“You know that if Draco finds out that you killed Keres without giving them a chance to be turned, he will not be pleased,” Tor states as he pulls out a chair, turning it so that he is straddling its back.
“I did ask them,” Ulrich quips, which we are all sure was just before he killed them.
“Were they conscious when you asked them?” Tal quips with a grin.
Ulrich grins as he nods. “Yeah, you can ask Dane, he saw.”
Looking at Dane, I see him raise a brow. “Don’t bring me into this, you didn’t even give me a chance to fight,” he mutters.
“Not my fault you’re slow,” Ulrich chirps as he waggles his eyebrows in amusement.
Dane shows him the finger.
Colborn and Garth come in at this time. Colborn looks like he has been rolling in the dust. “What happened to you?” I ask.
Garth grins as he comes to stand next to Asgar.
“Apparently, I was in Garth’s way when he decided that an earth tremor was the ideal way to end the fight that I was busy fighting,” Colborn says with a shrug as he glares at Garth.
“Swear its true,” Garth replies with a grin. “Besides, the dusty look suits you. Isn’t that true, Monica?” Garth calls, so that Monica who is behind the counter talking to one of our prospects, hears. Hearing her name, she turns with a surprised expression on her face.
“I asked if the dusty look suits Colborn?” Garth repeats when it’s clear that she wasn’t listening to our conversation. Her eyes turn to Colborn and then she grins.
“Yeah, he’s too handsome for any look not to suit him, but if you would like some help washing all that dust away, just let me know. I can even give you a nice massage after.”
At her offer, Colborn grins, which has me smiling because all you can see is his bright white teeth in the middle of a dusty face.
“How can I turn down such a kind offer?” Colborn states with a wink as he heads over to Monica, who is giggling.
“Not now. First, I want to hear about what happened,” Tor states in a serious tone.
“Darn, looks like you will have to wait a little, darling, before you can wash my tired body,” Colborn teases as he winks at Monica before turning back to us.
“Where is the info you found?” Tor asks as none of them seem to be carrying any papers with them, but Garth pulls out his phone, lifting it up as he inclines his head towards it.
“I took photos of everything. There were addresses and photos of the women which we think might be their next victims. There were a couple of other addresses too that didn’t have any photos.” Garth explains.
“Not sure what to make of those. Either they are still getting the info on those women, or they are gone already,” Colborn adds.
“How about how they find these women? We thought after the attack on Merdor, when Draco’s men killed him and brought down his organization, that the energy concept that they had to picking up the women, had been destroyed,” Tor states.
Garth is scrawling through his phone as he starts to speak, “We found a graph that seemed quite interesting. It seems like there are a few key points that they look for before choosing a specific woman, here it is.” He turns his phone, placing it on the table before Tor. From where I’m sitting, I can see the phone’s screen, which has an organogram with images and different levels.
I see that one of the blocks mentions smell, which must be what Esmeralda said to me about picking up the other women’s scents. “The fuckers must have someone that gets close enough to the women to be able to gather all this info,” Tor says angrily.
“I think it must be a woman,” I say, thinking of how much to tell them about what Esmeralda confessed to me. “Esmeralda told me that all the women that are like our mates have a specific sweet smell to them.”
“Really?” Dane asks in surprise, which has me shrugging.
“That’s what she says. I don’t really go around smelling women,” I mutter, seeing Dane look towards Monica with a frown on his face. I know that he is thinking of testing the concept by his thoughtful expression.
