Chapter Eight

?????,?????

No pain, no gain.

Wolfe didn’t sleep at all. Consequently, he woke up in a bloody rotten mood.

He made it worse by determinedly putting Rui on Tristan’s horse, then having Tristan mount up behind her.

The young warrior looked at him askance, but didn’t ask questions. Rui, on the other hand, sent him a bewildered, hurt sort of stare. Like a puppy he’d just kicked without the slightest provocation.

Not meeting her incredible lapis lazuli eyes, he mounted his own stallion with no small amount of discomfort.

Blue balls did that to a man.

Made him want to tear into something with his bare hands. Made his temper rise for no good reason. He was a broiling inferno looking for an outlet.

All. Night. Long.

He’d been hard and aching the entire fucking night.

He kept a polite distance between them as she fell asleep in his arms. He stayed awake at first because he was afraid he’d dream again. But he couldn’t make himself let her go.

Then, he stayed awake because his hips had moved closer of its own volition to cradle hers. Before he realized what had happened, he had one hand over her small breast instead of her waist, his hard cock pressed into the seam of her sweet ass.

It was the curviest part of her body. It provided the perfect cushion for his groin.

He might have ground his aching staff against her once. Twice. Before he forced himself to stop. But he couldn’t make himself put back the distance. That’s how he held her.

All. Night. Long.

When he awoke this morning, his erection was practically on fire. He had to lumber like a wounded bear into the woods just to yank off a release before he could empty his bladder.

And still it persisted. Like a terrible disease.

So he used his fist a couple more times, until his member was rubbed raw and coming came with a dry burn, before finally heading back to camp. The others were already awake and readying for the last leg of their journey.

Rui stood there with those hypnotic eyes and smiled at him.

A tentative, shy smile, but no less brilliant in its purity. It conveyed without words how happy she was to see him.

He did that. He made her happy just by being present.

In answer, he scowled ferociously, making her smile wobble. Then it deflated entirely, and that’s when the confusion entered her eyes.

He resolutely avoided looking at her, or even asking how her throat was, despite the words tumbling on the tip of his tongue.

She was still wearing the strip of linen around her neck, so the others didn’t see her bruises.

But he knew what he’d done.

Blue balls and a half-hard cock while jostling up and down on a horse for most of the day seemed like just punishment.

He gritted his teeth and kneed his stallion into a trot, pulling well ahead of the others. The pain in his too-abused groin was enough to bring tears to his eyes.

Maybe that’d teach him to lust after innocents.

A woman like Rui wasn’t meant for a man like him. She was too fine. Too cultured. Too innocent.
