At least I was feeling more than anxiety-induced fear when she stepped out and joined me in the hallway a minute later.

“Now, dear one, tell me what has you popping in unannounced? You look flushed.” She trailed her fingers across my cheek and offered me a sweet smile.

A shudder of arousal raced down my spine. I’d forgotten how potent she could be. “I needed your advice, or I guess your opinion really. I think I might be, that is, I had a dream and...” My words were jumbled, the result of my fuzzy brain and nerves.

She made a shushing noise in her throat and moved to stand behind me, massaging the corded muscles in my neck and shoulders. “It’s all right, dear. Just relax. I don’t ever want you to fear me. There’s no need. I never intend to scare you, only arouse you.” Her seductive laugh bounced off the walls as her fingers worked their magic.

“Am I a succubus?” I blurted, trying to push through the haze of attraction she always coated me in.

“What?” Her hands left my skin, and she came back around to face me.

“You heard me. Am I... like you?”

She leaned in and took a long breath, inhaling my scent deep into her lungs. Her eyelids fluttered closed as she stepped back. “Has anyone ever told you how delicious you are?” She hummed softly, a noise of pure pleasure. “Honey. Lilacs. Ice and the ocean.” She ran her nose up my throat. “Moss and cedar as well. And some delicious citrus with roses. Oh, it’s delectably convoluted. It shouldn’t be so appealing.” One more sniff had her shuddering. “Blood and brimstone.”

“Brim-brimstone?”

“Just a hint of it. I know you came searching for answers, love, but I don’t have the ones you seek. You’re not a succubus, but there’s definitely something dark in you.”

“What is it?”

She fingered a lock of my hair and inspected the strands. “I don’t know. But it’s dark and it’s hungry.”

My gut clenched at the same time as a wave of heat washed over me. Her nostrils flared as she picked up on the abrupt shift of emotions.

“Here, let me see if I can help. Hunger is one of my specialties, after all. She laced her fingers around the back of my neck, her blue eyes turning into a swirling endless black as she peered into mine. My heart stuttered, and I forgot how to breathe as she unleashed her power on me.

“Show me what you desire, Sunday. What is it you crave above all else?”

I didn’t say a word, but her gaze sharpened, then her brows lifted. “Ah, there it is. I know what you need, darling. Go on to your room. You’ll feel much better after you do.”

I opened my mouth, but she stopped me with a black-tipped finger on my lips.

“Let Lilith take care of you. It’s why you came, isn’t it?”

“Okay,” I agreed, feeling the same lightheaded euphoria that usually accompanied a good buzz. Man, if Lilith could bottle and sell whatever she was exuding, she’d make a killing.

In a daze, I made my way down the stairs, not even seeing the other patrons who must’ve been at the club. My heart was pounding, head spinning as need careened through me, just like it had with Kingston. Intense and nearly taking me to my knees. Why was this happening again? If I wasn’t a succubus, why couldn’t I be sated?

As always, when I reached the room, the door swung inward. My breath caught at the sight before me, the room looking like nothing I’d expected and everything I secretly desired.
