We both sat there a minute, and then he let out a breath. “You do know what yesterday was, don’t you?”

I frowned and shook my head. “Today’s the reunion, so what am I missing?”

Killian let out a laugh before Cora let herself into the bedroom, having learned how to open the doors if we didn’t lock them.

The dog bounded on the bed and I rolled my eyes.

“You’re such a smart girl. You’re the best girl.” She licked my chin and then sat on my lap as if she wasn’t a sixty-pound Lab.

“Yesterday was Marc’s wedding.”

I froze and Cora whined. I shook myself out of it and rubbed her down, letting her know that she was indeed the best girl ever.

“I forgot.” I shook my head, stunned. “I forgot.”

“Of course you did. Because I’m the one that’s the most important.” Killian fluttered his eyelashes, and it wasn’t the most attractive thing on him since he was overexaggerating so much, so I just laughed.

“I guess that tells you where he lies in the grand scheme of things.”

“I’m just glad that he seems to have moved on because he didn’t call you. Didn’t bother you at all.”

“Which is good. Apparently all it takes to find someone that’s worth it is me throwing myself off a roof to catch a man’s attention.”

Killian scowled. “You’ll not be falling off any more roofs, even if I’m there to catch you. I don’t think I could handle that.”

“Okay. That makes sense. So, you think you’re ready to talk about what you’re going to do with the place?”

“Yes, but I have an idea about it that may not be what you’re thinking.”

I frowned. “What do you mean?”

“I’m going to rebuild, but something a little different. However, I think we need to talk with your family first.”

I froze. “What do you mean?”

Killian shook his head. “Let’s get ready for the reunion and then head to your mother’s house. We can talk about it with them.”

“Killian. I’m nervous now.”

“We should buy the house you’re building, too. To have them both. Because that house calls to you, and I don’t know if I could live at the other place again. But I also don’t want to get rid of the land. So, let’s figure out something that can work for the both of us.”

“You’re not making any sense.”

Killian met my gaze and cupped my face. “I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Archer. If that means moving to Fort Collins, I’ll do it, but that house calls to you. Not the house I was building for Danielle and Cassidy. But the house you’re building. Let’s try to make that work.”

“I don’t know if we can.”

“I think you need to talk with your family.”

“And today’s the best day to do that?” I asked, my mind whirling in a thousand different directions.

“You never know. Those Montgomerys do like to plan things. Let’s see what they’ve already set in motion before we stress ourselves out.”

“You’re stressing me out, Killian.”

“Well, considering you fell on me after falling off a roof, it’s only right.”

“You want to spend the rest of your life with me?” I asked, freezing as his words just caught up to me.
