I try to find my phone in my purse. I finally locate it. It’s powered off.

“It’s not that late, and the place is close. You can easily get back to the hotel if you don’t like it.”

I think about it, my eyes sliding back to the crowd. The beams of light zip around the room when three silhouettes catch my eye. I sober up and move away from the table to take a better look.

Oh, shit. It’s them.

I swivel at once and bump into Isla, who is right behind me, looking at the entrance as well.

“I’m coming. Let’s go,” I say, rushed.

“Who did you see?”

I grab her by the elbow.

“No one.”

“Is your boyfriend looking for you?” she asks, amused yet suspicious.

“No boyfriend. Are you going or not?”

“Only if you’re telling me who is after you,” she says in a mood to tease me. The rest of the crew is completely oblivious to my meltdown.

I glance at the entrance and the crowd again and locate them easily. They’re talking to the bouncers, one of them signaling to the VIP rooms.

Shit, shit.

There’s no time. The women are in no rush to leave, although the plan is to go to Em’s place.

“What’s going on?” Isla asks.

I grab my purse.

“I need to go to the bathroom.”

“We’re leaving.”

“No, we’re not. Not immediately anyway.”

She’s giving me a hard time while Kai, Francisco, and Alejandro cut their way through the crowd.

I take Isla’s hand and drag her with me to the restroom.

We avoid running into them at the last minute. We turn left just as they loom around the corner. Hopefully, no one at our table will be able to offer them information.

Once inside, I turn to Isla.

“I need to go now. It was nice meeting you.”

Her eyes widen with surprise.

“Where are you going?”

“I don’t know.”

“Who are they?”

“They?”
