“Where is she?” Francisco asks.

“You won’t believe it.”

RAVEN

The womenin the booth can’t stop laughing. Aside from their good disposition, the alcohol might have something to do with it.

Isla and I grin from ear to ear.

It’s fun.

It’s a lot of fun.

Em, the birthday girl, dances on the table. She’s comical, and she needs help from her friends, and that makes the atmosphere incendiary.

We all end up dancing around the table, champagne flowing into our glasses.

The venue beams with energy. I have no idea what time it is, but I’m not interested in finding out. I just want to dance until I can’t walk and then go to the hotel, fall asleep, wake up at noon, take a long bath, and dive into the pool in the afternoon.

There are no men on my schedule.

No Kai. Francisco. Alejandro.

No more erections. No more actions.

No feelings. Lots of money. Life is good. I just need to be patient. And if they fuck with me again. I can hit pause and get a sabbatical.

My alcohol-induced brain fog seems to do wonders for my logic.

Occasionally, I drag my gaze over the crowd on the floor and the entrance.

Isla notices.

“Waiting for someone?” she asks.

“Nope,” I murmur playfully.

The clamor is loud and floats around the table. I look around.

“What’s going on?” I ask.

Isla starts talking to her friends.

“They want to go to Em’s house. There’s a party over there.”

“Oh.”

“It’s okay. You can come with us.”

“I don’t know…”
