“And now you’re a handyman, roaming around and fixing houses?”

“Houses, yachts, barns.”

“It’s quite a drastic career change.”

“Yeah, well,” I straightened my legs out in front of me, “sometimes life forces you to make drastic changes.”

She stared down at her hands. “I guess it does.”

I eyed her curiously. “Did something happen?”

“What do you mean?”

“You seem…different. Upset.”

“Oh. No.” She pulled her knees up to her chest. “I’m not upset. Just…confused.”

“About?”

“You.” Her eyes met mine, and I felt the electricity between us move down my spine.

I quickly looked away before getting sucked into the moment. “You shouldn’t give me so much thought.”

“I’m trying not to. You warned me that you’re a complicated man. Well,” she shrugged, “I’m not exactly an easy equation to figure out either.”

“You mean this whole socialite image you’re portraying?” I gave her a sideways glance. “That’s not who you really are?”

She frowned, and I grinned.

“Spencer.”

“Ah.” Her lips curled in a smile. “Seems like my brother has a keen interest in us.”

“Your brother is very protective of you, Sienna. He’s a good guy.”

“I know.” She wrapped her arms around her knees. “Silas, too. He might act like a jackass most of the time. Wake up in the mornings thinking about how many times he can piss me off within the next twenty-four hours. But he’s all marshmallow on the inside.”

We chuckled, and I watched her from the corner of my eye as she stared out over the rose garden. She had a unique beauty to her. Not just her pretty face and rocking body. But there was this light that shined through her that made it impossible to look away.

Ever since the first time we kissed, she somehow managed to find a way to crawl through the tiniest crack in the walls I had built around me. I did everything I could—everything my willpower allowed—to keep her away. But it proved futile when I realized that I was the one who couldn’t stay away from her.

“Well, since you’re spending the night, will you be making pancakes?” I shot her a cocky grin, and she laughed. I swear to God, I felt that sound all the way to my bones, penetrating so damn deep, I had to suck in a breath.

She got up, her denim shorts pulled up at the sides, giving me a glimpse of the smooth skin of her thigh. “How about we get some pizza instead? Plus, I know my dad always has a collection of wine in here for guests.”

I scowled. “You’re underaged.”

“Oh my God. What are you, my dad?” Her eyes narrowed the moment those words left her mouth. “Too soon?”

“Way too soon.”

She chuckled, and I turned to watch her walk inside, her slender legs going on for fucking miles. No matter how hard my head was screaming at me that having her here was like playing with the lion’s balls and expecting him not to get angry, there was this part of me that liked the idea. No.Lovedthe idea. My muscles were already pulling tight, adrenaline slowly trickling into my bloodstream.

I walked into the cottage, and Sienna leaned over the kitchen counter going through the pizza menu. Her shirt gaped down the front just enough for me to see the swell of her breast. My cock instantly hardened, and I had to adjust my pants while forcing my goddamn mind out of the gutter since the only thing I could see in my head was her naked ass bent over that fucking sawhorse in the spare bedroom.

“Do you have any dietary requirements?”

I frowned, and she looked up at me before sliding her gaze down my body, giving a slight pause where the wifebeater hugged my chest.
