“I can handle Nico,” he grunts, pushing his hand through his hair while my gut twists painfully.
“You’re serious, aren’t you? You’re actually going after her?”
He shrugs. “You know me, Bro. I’m not about making plans or taking anything seriously. She’s fun to hang out with. We’ll see where it takes us. Plus, she’s fucking hot, man. You should have come with us last weekend.”
“What happened last weekend?” I ask, although I already know I’m going to regret it.
I know they went away, but I haven’t heard any of the details, and I learned long ago it was better to just stay off my brother’s socials.
“Fucking skinny dipping, man. I swear, her curves are fucking sinful. She grew up good.”
My fists curl at my sides and I fight not to let my jealousy show on my face.
“She got naked with you?” I grit out.
“Yeah. Is that so hard to believe? I’m not a complete cunt. She slept in my bed, too.”
All the air rushes out of my lungs at his words.
If he notices my reaction, then he doesn’t comment. Instead, his smug smirk just grows wider.
“Best fucking night’s sleep I’ve had in forever. I would suggest you try it, but then I’d have to share, and that ain’t fucking happening.”
I raise a brow at him.
“Again. That ain’t happening again.”
“You’re full of shit, Bro,” I say, resting back and sipping on my coffee as if all is right in my world. All the while I secretly wonder what it might be like to actually drift off to sleep with Calli in my arms.
“I haven’t fucked her, if that’s what you’re getting at.”
I can’t deny that relief doesn’t flood my veins at that statement.
“Not surprised. If she saw you naked before getting in your bed, she probably decided your small cock wasn’t worth the effort.”
He flips me off but decides against getting into that argument.
“She’s seeing someone, though. She’s got hickeys all over her neck.”
His jaw tics with irritation at that.
“She’s been walking around with a guy’s marks all over her throat, and Nico’s just let that fly?”
“Nah, she’d done a pretty decent job of covering it up. I just got a little closer than everyone else.”
My blood boils at his comment, but I keep my reaction locked down.
Calli has every right to hang out with Alex. She can spend time with anyone she wants. As long as they’re not Italian.
I might want to stake my claim on her, but I know it’ll never happen.
She’d be better off with a guy like Alex anyway. Someone who can make her laugh, treat her right.
Not a cold, dark arsehole like me who dreams about locking her up and keeping her for myself.
