When we're done, we cuddle up in his bed and turn on a movie. As I hold Sam in my arms, I realize that tonight isn’t something I wanna do again. I don’t want to go out and risk my life. And the idea of Queenie doing it leaves an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. But Queenie does what she wants, and she’s good at what she does.
But me? I’d rather be here at home with Sam and Harlow.
“I love you,” I murmur to Sam, kissing the top of his head.
“I love you too,” he says, looking up at me.
We stare into each other’s eyes for a moment before he leans up and kisses me. We forget about the movie and just enjoy tasting the other. We kiss lazily until we pass out. A perfect ending to a fucked up day. But what else is new when it comes to our little family?
