She leaned against the kitchen counter, while I gathered mugs, and spooned coffee into them.

“So… um… That’s Sammy and Seb. Twins, obviously… I’m with them.”

I frowned, glancing up from my coffee jar.

“With them? You mean, with them, with them?”

She blushed, chewing on her lip again.

“Yes. It sounds insane, and maybe it is… Harvey was stalking me. That was absolutely true. Only I didn’t know about it, until they came for me.”

I stared out at the living room again, at those two huge scary guys, sitting in my chairs, practically dwarfing them, while Adam rested his head against the back of the sofa. I wondered what they were talking about.

“Came for you? You mean to save you from him?”

She grimaced. “Not quite. I bet I’m going to explain this really badly, and you’re going to misjudge them. So… I was taken… kidnapped.”

“I fucking knew it! Are… did they hurt you?”

She smirked suddenly. “Look, all you really need to know is that they’re mine. I’m with them. And when I met them, I was afraid, because I thought they were the bad guys. But it turned out that being taken by them saved me from Harvey. He was a bad guy. He tried to rape his girlfriend. His best friend. She killed him. She had to. It was my fault.” She glanced at the other room then, a guilty look on her face.

“Something wrong?”

“Sammy gets really pissed when I blame myself.” I glanced at the huge guy. Yeah, I wouldn’t want him pissed at me either.

“Are you safe with them? Do you need to get away from them?”

Cassidy giggled then. “Why would I want to be away from them? They’re who I want to be with.”

“Both of them, though? How does that even work?”

The kettle boiled then, and I concentrated on pouring hot water, while she laughed.

“I mean, I can draw you a picture, but it’s pretty much what you imagine. Kinda every naughty thing you can imagine, but it’s all so good. So damn good. And they look after me, Julie. They protect me. They… I’ve never felt so loved and safe.”

What more could a girl want?

“Okay… so let’s say I get all of that. How is Adam involved with them?”

Cassidy sighed. “That’s a longer story, that he should probably tell you himself, Julie. I didn’t realise the two of you knew each other, beyond one meeting he mentioned, when he told me you needed me.”

Cassidy helped me with the coffees, knowing how her men liked theirs. Men. Plural. It was too bizarre to consider, particularly since both guys were so large and scary. It unnerved me.

As we approached them, I heard Adam.

“Can’t believe you fucking thought that of me. You’re the sick ones.”

I frowned as I joined them, bringing the coffees to the table for the two of us, then I ran upstairs, and returned with the co-codamol, and a glass of water, passing the glass and two pills to Adam, watching him gratefully swallow them down, and chase them with a few gulps of water.

“Thank you, sweet girl. Now, get up here.” At his insistence, I let him pull me into his lap, blushing until I saw that Cassidy had climbed into the lap of one of the big guys. I couldn’t remember which was which, but I saw the way they both looked at her, and suddenly realised that she’d been honest with me, about how it was with them.

I pressed my face into Adam’s neck. “I was so worried when you didn’t come over.”

He groaned, wrapping his good arm around me. “I’d never stay away from you by choice. I promise.”

I reluctantly lifted my head to look at the two meathead guys.

“So it’s thanks to you that he didn’t show… what did you do to him?”
