Maliatries to storm past me, but I snatch her arm, holding her back. A look passes between the Olin siblings before she snaps her head up to glare at me.

I drag her out of the room toward the empty interrogation room next to Donovan’s. We fought once. I’m aware of her capabilities. Even then, I knew she was holding back. She could easily break my hold, but she allows me to maneuver her away.

“Turn off the cameras and close the two-way,” I order a passing officer, who stops dead in his tracks, assessing the situation in front of him. “Now, that’s an order.”

The older cop nods in understanding before I push the girl I was falling in love with through the door, slamming it shut behind us. I flick on the light and lock us in.

“What the fuck is this?”

She watches me through narrowed eyes.

“You’re the fucking secret daughter?”

She smiles, a predatory look crossing her beautiful face while she tracks my movements. I stop pacing and lean against the door, crossing my arms tight against my chest, trying to stave off the storm roiling inside me. My thoughts are wild, and I’m pissed. This is a twist I wasn’t ready for in this case. How could I have missed this?

“Malia.” My eyes bounce between hers, and her face softens, a smirk tugging at the corners of her lips. “Want to explain what your angle was for this bullshit?”

“If you don’t know, then you’re not as smart as we thought, Officer.”

I narrow my eyes at her before correcting her.

“Agent.”

“A pig all the same,” she responds flippantly.

As much as I want to scream at her and throw the table across the room, I can’t bring myself to disrespect her. Not even after the deception.

I run my hand down my face, trying to gather my thoughts, allowing my irritation to settle. I need answers. Now isn’t the time for emotions, and maybe I can use this to my advantage. Raging the fuck out can come later.

“There you go, calling me a pig again.” I huff. “What does he want with me? Were my parents not enough?”

Malia stares at me, staying as tight-lipped as her brother was these last few hours. So, I poke the bear.

“Does The Omen usually send the mafia princess out for missions? No one else to play the seductress?”

Her eyes dilate when I speak. She cocks an eyebrow at me before lowering her head and looking at me through her long eyelashes.

“Not all girls are damsels in distress. Never thought you, of all people, would be that dense.”

Her words are basically a purr from her mouth.

“But then again, it didn’t take much to have you foaming at the mouth, now did it?”

“What are you doing here?”

“I’m here to get my brother.” Malia shrugs, then crosses her arms, matching my body language.

She perks her tits up with the motion, trying to use her body to distract me like that’s all she’s worth.

She catches my quick glance and gives me another crooked smirk.

“Donovan is here for questioning.”

“For?”

“Affiliation with a crime lord.”

“Affiliation, he says.”
