IHESITATEDWHENMONA’S name popped up on my caller ID a few hours ago. The last thing I expected was her to call me saying she has a present for me and it’s not her pussy. I definitely never expected it to be a whole Olin offspring who’s been brought into custody.

Donovan and I have been staring each other down for the last hour. We don’t really have anything to hold him for aside from a small brawl at a bar.

Maybe my luck is changing for once.

A commotion sounds in processing, yelling, and objects being overthrown. I refuse to abandon the interrogation room with this fucker sitting right in front of me. I hate doing work at the police station. These fuckers can never get ahold of the unruly. And the distraction, while I am trying to question Olin, is pissing me off. This is the closest I’ve come to The Omen in all these years. His son sits across from me, looking bored and only adding to my irritation.

“Am I wasting your time?” I ask.

Donovan smirks at my question. With his pale skin and blue eyes, the man barely resembles his father aside from his curly black hair.

“Sounds like you have a party out there.” He chuckles.

I have to bury my anger before sending my fist into his smug face.

Motherfucker.

“You’re awfully cocky, considering the position you’re in. Do you think you have immunity here?”

I press my palms on the table, leaning into him as he sits across from me.

Olin’s good at masking his emotions. A confession is unlikely. I imagine The Omen has trained his son well against law enforcement, and the last person who’s going to sing their heart out to me would be his heir.

A knock breaks through our moment of glaring. A short, blonde police officer steps into the interrogation room with an irritated face.

“Didn’t I ask not to be disturbed?” I grind out. The police officer stiffens, her eyes shifting between Olin and me.

“A woman is demanding to speak to you.”

“I’m busy.”

“She says she’s Mr. Olin’s sister.”

The woman closes the door quickly with her last statement. My body freezes. Right. The fucker called his sister as some sort of power move. It was the only reason I let him use his personal phone in the first place. Having both Olin siblings in holding is a fucking dream, but I know it’s not that easy.

Pounding sounded on the door in a more demanding cadence. I see Olin lean forward from my periphery, settling his elbows on the table and steepling his hands together. I turn my head back to him, and his eyes lock on mine with an amused glint and crooked smirk.

“Looks like your party needs a chaperone, Brenner. You should probably go handle that. I’ll be a good boy.” He winks. “Pinky promise.”

The knocking becomes more insistent, and I scoff, walking over to open the door.

If I thought I was prepared for the mystery child unveiling, I couldn’t be more wrong. Nothing could’ve prepared me for the surprise standing in front of me, furious green eyes boring into mine. I open my mouth and close it. The words escape as my mind goes into a frenzy trying to put it together. The resemblance is startling.

How did I not notice before?

“The fuck is he?” Mila’s face is hard, the fury nearly burning me to ash.

The harsh tone in her voice pulls me from my stupor.

“Mila? What—”

A cocky smirk quickly replaced her rage when I say the name she gave me. I would bet my dick it was an alias.

“Let me see my brother.”

A chuckle comes from behind me. My confusion turns into anger.

“Big sis to the rescue,” he quips.
