“What the fuck happened? What was the screaming for?” Immediately he’s questioning me and the tears continue to fall.

“I . . . I was looking for F-F—”

“It’s okay. We got you. Just fill us in on what we don’t know,” Tristan says, urging me to get to the rough part.

“I opened the d-door and there was t-this guy,” I leave out the part about the girl giving him a blowjob, “and he grabbed me, s-shoved me to the g-ground. S-said he w-was.” I continue to sob, and now I look at Finn. “He said he was y-your b-brother.”

“What did he say, did he say anything else?” Finn drops to the ground and grabs onto me, and for the first time, his rough touch only makes me collide into him. I want to be protected in his strong arms, and even though his words are gruff, I couldn’t care less. He keeps me safe, and I think I’m falling head over heels for this man.

“He was g-gonna make me s-suffer,” I sob, snot coming from my nose. I know I look so disgusting right now, but I can’t stop. I’m trying and everything just keeps getting worse. I was terrified, so afraid he was going to pull me into a situation like Deanna had.

“Where was her fucking guard? What’s his fucking name, Mason? He’s always around her when I’m by her side, but the moment I’m not, he can’t be fucking bothered to do his job?!” Finn snarls at my brothers, and Tristan whistles. “I want his job on a silver fucking platter, and Casen, one of my guards, will watch her from now on. She could’ve been . . .” Finn stops and looks down into my eyes. They’re filled with tears, and he presses a chaste kiss on my forehead. “I’m so sorry, my love. I’m not trying to scare you. I’m just angry, okay? I’m just . . . furious.”

I nod and press my face against Finn’s chest, only wanting to be wrapped in his arms. He’s the only place I feel safe these days. I’m sure his guard, Casen, is good at his job, but no one will compare to the way Finn makes me feel secure.

“We need them searching the grounds, now. If my brother isn’t found, there will be hell to pay,” Finn snarls, speaking to everyone around us. The tension is high but I focus on my breathing. That’s all I need to worry about right now and nothing more.
