Nox held Luca’s hand and swiped his thumb over his palm. “She cut you.”

“You were dying.”

More precisely, the Anubis had been dying. Now it churned with strength and boiled with power.

“Why do they care?”

“If we get dressed, we can go ask.” Luca nodded at the pile of folded clothes near the door.

Nox sat up, and Luca stood.

Cum dripped down the inside of Luca’s thighs.

Nox looked for something to give to Luca so he could clean up.

“I’m fine.”

“You’re a mess.” There were drawers in the frame of the cot. Nox opened one, then the other. Pillows and a quilt. Bed linens. He took out a pillowcase. “Here.”

“It’s not like they won’t know. Or don’t already know. They’re not human.”

“I don’t care about them. I only care about you.”

Luca took the pillowcase and used it to clean off his legs. He finished and looked around for a place to put the pillowcase. There was nothing but a small trash can.

Luca stuffed it there. “Happy now?” He picked up the garments. “Here. I think they’re big enough.”

“They’re sweats. They should stretch if they’re not.”

Luca handed them over, and Nox got dressed.

Luca picked up his jeans. The simple act put his lithe frame and round ass on full display. Nox should have been balls deep, fucking Luca, basking in the glory of his pleasure, drinking down his screams.

But what if Luca told him no? What if Luca wanted him to stop? What if the Anubis wouldn’t let Nox?

Nox shoved to his feet. His shoulder hit the door, and he grabbed the knob. It snapped off in his grip just as the hinges gave way and the cardboard frame shredded. He tripped into the open area, landing on his knees. Dr. Dante stood from the seat he’d occupied. But he wasn’t of any concern.

The Varu and Mah stood.

Nox’s teeth shot down and black threaded along his arms. Killing them would almost be as good as fucking Luca. He pulled himself to his feet and stormed toward them.

The Mah dropped to his knees and held his hands just above his shoulders, palms turned up. The female Varu joined them, but instead of lifting her hands, she bared her throat.

As vulnerable as it made her, it meant nothing compared to the kneeling, lesser being at her side.

Nox was just about to grab the man when Luca stepped in his way. He took Nox’s hand and pressed it to his cheek. The contact gentle and warm. It intensified the flood of emotions pouring from Luca. Love, kindness, peace.

Nox swallowed the flavor of copper.

“It’s okay. Everything is okay.” Luca kissed Nox’s wrist and tugged him in the direction of one of the seats and he sat because Luca willed it.

“Can we stand up now?” The Mah lifted his head.

Nox snarled.

“Maybe you should stay down there.” Dr. Dante gave a nervous laugh.

“My knees are getting tir—”
