CHAPTER 24

BROCK

“You’re smiling,”Dylan says to me the next morning.

“No, I’m not,” I grunt, pouring myself a glass of orange juice in the kitchen.

“You were,” Killian adds, in between bites of waffles. “It’s a fucking miracle. Like a double rainbow.”

Whatever face I had turns into a scowl.

“Have you noticed her scent is different?” Dylan asks. “Since last night. It’s tamer. Which means the suppressants are working.”

I nod. “Yeah. As long as she’s healthy, that’s what matters.”

They both stare at me.

“What?” I growl.

“You like her,” Dylan grins. “You really like her.”

“What, are we in fucking grade school? Of course, I do,” I snap, my face flaming.

I don’t bother to tell them what I’ve been working on all morning.

But I hope Olive will appreciate it.

“By the way, we don’t have to worry about the alarm from yesterday,” Killian adds. “My guy has access to records. The police never visited that night, for whatever reason. We got lucky.”

“Oh, good, as long asyour guysays it,” I deadpan. “Her safety wasn’t at risk at all, then. Good.”

Killian scoffs. “Look, I’m tryingreallyhard to get along with you, for her sake. But you don’t need to be jealous just because Dylan and I—”

“I’m not jealous!” I snap, and both of them raise an eyebrow at me. “Okay, fine, I’m a little fucking jealous, but it has nothing to do with me being pissed about you guys going along with her plan.”

“I agreed with you,” Killian adds, which surprises me. “I told her she wasn’t going, either. But it didn’t work. What Olive wants, Olive gets.”

“I see.”

“Look,” he adds. “I may be reckless, but with her, I’m nothing be cautious. And I think that’s common ground all of us have.”

Dylan nods. “And she needed the suppressants, Brock. Or else…”

“Yeah, I know,” I snap. “Or else you two would have knotted her easily.”

My jealousy is putrid, and I can’t hide it anymore.

I want her.

My inner Alpha roars in agony, and my thoughts are consumed with nothing butOlive.

Hopefully, I can still be a part of her life, even if she doesn’t want me the way she wants Dylan and Killian.

I walk away before I can embarrass myself anymore, locking myself in my office to finish my project.

* * *

The idea could workwith Olive’s approval.
