King grinned. “I know. It’s a long story, and I’ll tell you later.” He reached in for Corey and then held a hand out to Cat. He wrapped an arm around her.
“This is Catalina and our son Corey.”
Hale grinned. “He’s definitely your child. He even has the same grin.”
King chuckled. “Let’s hope he doesn’t have the energy I did at this age.”
Hale and Cat laughed.
“I’ll bring the bags in, sir.”
“Can you take them up to the bedroom on the right side of the master, please?”
“Of course.”
“There will be more bags coming that should be placed in the room, too.”
Hale nodded. “I’ll take care of it.”
He walked them up the steps and the door opened before they got to it. “Hello, Franklin.”
“Good morning, sir.”
He walked Cat and Corey into the front foyer. “Honey, this is Franklin. If you need anything, ask him. He runs the household. I just live here.”
Franklin huffed out a laugh.
“Franklin, this is Catalina and our son Corey. They will be living here.”
King had to give it to the butler. He could hardly tell he looked surprised.
“Oh, my, that will be a treat. We’ve never had a child in the house. I’m looking forward to it.”
“I hope we’re not too much trouble, sir,” Cat said.
King bit his lip as Franklin tried to hide his shock again. He wasn’t used to people treating him with respect, but it didn’t surprise him that Cat would be that way.
“Oh, well, Miss Catalina, I don’t think there’s anything you can do that would cause trouble. I’m guessing the staff will enjoy having you here. We’ve needed some life in the house.”
Cat smiled. “Thank you, Franklin.”
“I’m going to take her in to meet Mrs. Pinkerson before I show her their room.”
Franklin grinned. “Mrs. Pinkerson will be pleasantly surprised.”
King chuckled and led Cat down a few hallways and into a massive kitchen. It only took a moment for the lady in charge of the kitchen to head their way.
“Is there something you need, sir?”
“Not right now. I just wanted to introduce my family to you.”
Her eyes widened.
“This is Catalina and our son Corey,” King said.
She laughed. “He’s the spitting image of you, sir.”
King chuckled. “I keep hearing that. They will be living here now.”
