“I know, but I’m here. Let me help.”
She nodded and reached for Corey. “I’ll wait here.”
King had the pile ready to go with two trips.
“Is there anything you’ll need in the next few hours?” he asked.
“Just my purse and his bag.”
King picked up both and pushed the button on the elevator before wrapping an arm around her waist.
It felt surreal as they stepped onto the elevator, so profound like it was the first step to the rest of her life, and she took it to heart. She was going to keep an open mind but still be cautious because this was a turning point in her and her son’s lives, and she wanted to make the most of it.
