He saw her fight through the wall of men, run to him, jump into his arms, and start kissing him like she hadn’t seen him in weeks or months instead of hours. “I missed you so much,” she said between kisses.
He laughed. “I missed you, too.” He set her on her feet but kept his arms around her. “Eli was telling me about your new project with Kinley.”
“Yeah,” she said and started to explain it.
Warrick looked at Eli and grinned. “Now, I know what you mean.”
“Daddy. Did you hear me?”
“Yes, baby, but you know I don’t understand all of it.”
“I think I’ll teach you?”
“Then you’ll definitely put me to sleep a lot.”
He laughed when her mouth dropped open.
“Daddy!”
“I’m sorry, baby. This stuff is over my head. Are you ready to go?”
“Yes. I’m going to hug my friend, and I’ll be right back.”
He nodded and watched her fight to get through the wall of men that watched Kinley work.
Shelby exhaled dramatically when she came back to him. “They are big people.”
Warrick laughed. He looked over the group and saw two men that he hadn’t met. “Who are they?” he asked Eli.
“Two students that have an internship with us.”
“I don’t like how close they were standing to the girls.”
Eli nodded. “I didn’t either. That’s why I have Sam in there. I’ll hear him bark at them every once in a while because they get too close.”
“Good.”
“If they get to be too much trouble, I’ll kick their asses out.”
Warrick nodded and grabbed Shelby’s hand. “I’ll have her back tomorrow.”
Eli grinned. “Good. They’re doing great work. I think we should let them do their thing.”
