Ava stiffened. God, she had no right to be jealous, but the thought of another woman’s hands on him infuriated her. “Maybe you should find another one.”
“I’ve got a better idea. How about you come with me next time she shows me a house?”
“What am I going to do?”
“Protect me.”
She couldn’t help the giggle that burst from her. “Seriously?”
“Yeah. If she knows I have a woman, she’ll leave me alone.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t bet on that. Some women don’t care.”
“Then you’ll have to come with me every time.”
She wanted to. Besides helping him out with the hussy, she loved looking at houses. “I’ll help you out.”
“Good.”
“I might not be able to every time, though.”
“I’ll just make the showings around your schedule,” he said.
She rolled her eyes. “So, what time on Saturday do you want to meet?”
“I’ll come to get you about eight. Is that too early?”
“No, but I can meet—”
“No. I’ll get you.”
She could tell by the firmness in his tone that she wouldn’t win this, so she gave in. “Fine, I’ll see you on Saturday morning.”
“Okay, baby. Have a good day and be careful.”
“You, too.”
She hung up the phone and sat back with a smile. If someone had told her she’d be going on a date with a man, much less one like Sean, she would have laughed. A few days ago, she would have said she wasn’t ready to date, but Sean’s personality made it impossible to ignore him.
She was surprised by her courage and the fact she was letting him in, but it felt right.
It was amazing how much she’d changed in the brief time she’d known him. He’d pulled her out of the shell she’d been in when she hadn’t let anyone close. Not even the girls, really. He definitely had the tenacity and drive needed to get through her walls.
She was afraid if it hadn’t been for Sean, she would have stayed alone for a long time. Now she had him.
