Chapter Eleven

Jenna rolled over in bed and sighed. It had been a little over two weeks since they moved into the condo with Trey, and they had spent the majority of time in it, although Trey let them come down to his office and help him set up a few times.

Every day, she and Trey got to know one another and grew a little closer. The more she got to know about him, the deeper her feelings grew, and it scared her at times how much she really did care already. Now, she was waiting for him to make a physical move. All he’d done so far was touch her all the time, every chance he got. He’d given her small kisses, but she always silently begged for more. She was ready to take this relationship to a new level.

She was healing very well and moving around without too much pain. At least she was hoping she was better because they’d be able to do more.

She looked to the door when someone knocked.

“Come in,” she called out.

Trey opened the door and stepped into the room. He was so large that he seemed to take up all the space even though the room was a decent size. He had on a pair of black sports shorts that showed his tan, muscular legs and a t-shirt, and she wondered where he was going.

He sat down beside her hip and rested his hand on the other side so he was leaning over her. “Good morning, pet. How are you feeling?”

She pulled the blanket up to her chin. “Fine.”

“Good. How about you get into some sweats and come down to the gym with me? It’s a great setup. I’ve enjoyed it.”

“Do you go every morning?”

“Yeah. I’m usually there and back by the time you girls wake up.”

“Okay. I’m not really into exercise, though.”

“That’s okay,” he said. “It will be nice to spend some time together.”

“We’ve been together.”

“I mean alone.”

“Where’s Kyla?”

“She went over to Faith’s.”

She swallowed. This would be the first time they were alone together, and she felt safer when Kyla was around. Not that he’d physically hurt her, but her feelings for him were growing by the day, and it scared her.

“Hustle up. I’ll have a protein shake for you.” He turned and walked out.

She scrunched her nose. That sounds gross.

“Get a move on, pet,” he called from down the hallway.

She gritted her teeth. He insisted on calling her pet. She probably would have liked it if she didn’t hear him call Kyla honey and sweetheart. They insisted they had no feelings for each other, but they were always laughing together, and the names he called Kyla made her think of lovers.

She scrambled out of bed, then threw on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt before she brushed her teeth. After she quickly pulled her hair back in a ponytail, she went to find him.

He handed her a cup with a lid. “Drink this. We need to build your strength up some more.”

“There’s nothing wrong with my strength.”

He led her to the elevator. Once he pushed the button for the basement, he leaned back and relaxed. “Come on, pet, try it. I swear you’ll like it.”

She took a tentative sip and was surprised. It just about tasted like a regular shake. “I like it. I’d love it if you’d add some sugar to it, though.”

He snorted. “That would defeat the purpose of being healthy.”

“Who says I want to be healthy?”
