CRUSH
“I’m making a call to Massimo.”Those are Dad’s words as we walk back in the house. Officer Vungle saw something she didn’t like and brought the calvary into town, making a mess of doing a search through the house. I guess with a name like that you’d need to have thick skin, or you’re busy trying to stand up for yourself as an adult for being made fun of as a kid. I’m going for the latter seeing how Vungle called the boys in blue when she was triggered by some type of residue in Gigi’s room. Not that weed should be illegal at this point in time, but leave it to Vungle to see something out of the ordinary and call in the boys in blue to tear the house apart only to test said residue and it being some kind of incense that Doe lit last week and hadn’t gotten around to cleaning up.
“Might be a good idea. Of course, that means it’s puttin’ my plans on hold with this shit happening today.” Ma, Sedona, and Gigi left shortly after the cops arrived. None of them needed to be here or questioned. Sedona was pissed to miss out on a shower and sleep, but she understood. It was my woman who had me concerned, face as white as a sheet, biting on her thumbnail when that crazy-ass bitch came out of Doe’s room with a smile on her face. I knew if anything happened that my woman would blame herself.
“Oh, we’ve got other ways to calm your thirst for Winslow. Gigi tell you about her foster family yet?” In most circumstances, we’d be in the clubhouse in our meeting room holding church. That’s not happening today, not with the shit that’s been served to us this morning.
“We haven’t really had a chance. Somethin’ you wanna tell me?” I ask Dad. Rage is on alert all of a sudden. Ice grunts in annoyance. Dad, though, he just shakes his head, not telling me what I clearly need to hear.
“You need to talk to her, really listen. I know you two are just gettin’ your feet under you, but once she lets you in, you’ll come to us. We’ll make a plan and take care of things together. The only reason it wasn’t dealt with while you were in prison was because we took a vote.” Dad doesn’t elaborate.
“Fuck.” I run my fingers through my hair, pulling it back, attempting to keep my cool instead adding fuel to the fire with the carnage around me. Beds are stripped, drawers are pulled out, clothes are strewn everywhere, and that’s in every inch of the house.
“Crush, you need your head on straight. You did while you were in Angola, and now you’ve gotta keep it locked down. No one can help if that shit ain’t buried, yeah?” Rage takes the floor, hands crossed over his chest. The serious tone makes it known, brother or not, if I don’t control my shit, he’ll control it for me.
“Alright, I’ll talk to Gigi today. She may already have the protection of the club, but she’s also mine. That means I’m makin’ her my Ol’ Lady sooner rather than later. Is there anythin’ else we need to talk about, or are we good to let the women come back and help us clean this shit up?”
“Yep, there’s more. We’re workin’ on an angle for Winslow. That being said, when the time comes, we’ll have him ready and waitin’ for you, even if it takes us longer than any of us wanted. His daddy is up for re-election in a few months. We figure there’s new blood in town, so the chances of him losin’ are pretty good. Once he’s out of office, we’ll go after daddy’s precious baby boy,” Ice states coldly, which is kind of where he gets his road name from; well, the other is because he likes to keep his victims on ice until they’re almost completely frozen solid alive, then he’ll thaw them out and the real fun begins.
“Alright.” It’s not the news I want. I’ve been waiting five years to get my hands on Winslow. A few more months I guess won’t kill me.
“Good, call the women home. I’m gonna get Massimo on the line, see if he can’t make Officer Vungle feel the pressure a little bit and give it a fuckin’ rest. If not, woman or not, she’s gonna feel it. You fuck with Diamondback, we’re gonna fuck back harder.” We all agree. Dad goes outside. I make the call to Gigi, letting them know to brace themselves for the mess but that it’s all clear to come home. Today is going to be a long-as-fuck day, and I know tonight probably won’t be much better either.
