“They knew you’d never give up the farm, so they tried to run you off. Only they didn’t realize how damn stubborn you are.”
“Clay left me that farm. It’s rightfully mine.”
“I know, darlin’.”
“Well, it looks like I’ll be living alone in that big house,” Nick said.
Wilder grinned. “I don’t know. She hasn’t asked me to move in with her.”
“You’re going to marry me, Wilder Richards, and if you don’t agree with that, you can go home with Nick.” Rory folded her arms.
Nick chuckled but sobered when Rory glared at him, making Wilder laugh.
“Of course, I’m going to marry you.” Wilder winked at her.
“I’m going to go for now. Let me know when you’re released. Rory, if you need help getting him home, call me, and I’ll help you,” Nick said.
“Thanks, Nick. I will.”
“I’ll talk to you both later.” He looked at Wilder. “I love you, little brother.”
“I love you too,” Wilder said.
After Nick hugged Rory, he left. Wilder tried to move a little but sucked in a breath at the pain in his arm.
“Do you need something for the pain?”
“Yeah, I know it will knock me out, but I’m hurting.”
“You just go to sleep. I’ll be here when you wake up.” She leaned down and kissed him. “I’ll always be here,” she whispered against his lips.
“I’m glad to hear that.”
“I’ll get a nurse. I can get one faster than using that button. I’ll be right back.” Rory walked out of the room.
She returned in less than a minute with a nurse following her.
“This will make you feel much better, Mr. Richards,” the nurse said.
“I’m all for that.”
Once she added the pain medicine to the IV, she walked out of the room.
“It won’t be long,” Rory said.
“I’m already feeling it,” Wilder murmured. “I love you, Rory.”
“I love you, Wilder.”
He closed his eyes and fell asleep with a smile, knowing she did love him.

Rory parked the SUV beside the porch, then hopped out to help Nick with Wilder. She bit her lip to keep from grinning when Wilder started muttering under his breath.
“I’m not a damn invalid,” he said.
“Just shut up or I’ll leave you in the car,” Nick said then winked at Rory.
