“Physical?”

“You know, holding my hand. Sitting up against me on the couch. Sleeping in my bed. Just small things like that.” He smiled. I could see his white teeth in the darkness. I wished I could see all his expressions better because I knew he was teasing me right now and I loved his teasing eyes.

“I wasn’t really hiding my feelings, was I? And here I thought I was doing such a good job.”

“Oh, you did a good job. I had no idea. But why did you feel like you had to hide your feelings from me? Why didn’t you just tell me? You’re usually pretty honest about how you feel, the reason I wasn’t reading too much into your actions.”

My eyes stung as I thought about him leaving in a week and a half. Leaving me alone again. “I…I just…I…”

“What’s wrong?”

I didn’t need to say it out loud. He was well aware of the fact too. Instead of answering, I pressed my lips to his again. He kissed me until my skin felt like it was going to burn down all the trees around us.
