“That’s not true either. She didn’t do it all on her own. She had me and her parents helping her all the way through, supporting her while she knew that she was lying through her teeth every damn day.”

She stopped, letting out anahhof understanding.

“That’swhere the Clarences are, right? You wanted to bring us all over here tonight to get it all out, to tell the truth. And I’m guessing by the fact that they’re long gone that they didn’t take too kindly to the news, either. Can’t say I blame them.”

“I’m sorry.” I couldn’t stop apologizing.

“Whatever. I really don’t care how sorry you are.” She took another sip and then crossed her arms.

“You can feel however you want about it,” Noah said. “But Andy and Emmy are my son and daughter, and your sister and brother. That’s the new reality. If you want to be bitter and upset, I suppose you have that right. But if you want to, at the very least, put your angry feelings aside and give those children the love they deserve, then you’re more than welcome.”

“Any other revelations for me, guys?” she asked. “Any other bombs you want to drop? Come on – I’m all ears; layout the news and I can go home, catch a little Netflix, then get to bed early for work.”

Noah let out a frustrated puff of air through his nose. “She’s moving in with me.”

“Figured.” Cammy tossed back the rest of the drink, then leaned forward and set the glass down on the coffee table in front of her. “You know what? I think that’s about all I can handle for one night. You guys, uh, enjoy the pizza.”

She stood up.

“I’ll talk to you when I’m damn good and ready and not a second before.”

She strode out of the room, grabbed her coat from the kitchen, and was gone without another word.

All I could do was cry.
