Chapter 6
Zack
I watched her as she raced down the hallway as if hell hounds were nipping at her heels. Damn, she had a fine ass. She had the kind of ass that made you want to grab it as you’re… I groaned to myself feeling my dick begin to rise in my pants. I should have made her take a different course, she needed electives, she could have taken this course with someone else next semester, at worst. But I didn’t want her to. I’d been thinking about her since I woke up the previous morning and she’d been running rampant through my mind ever since.
But it could be dangerous to my career. Although, all it had been was a one-night stand before I even knew she was a student of mine. Nothing would happen between us again, regardless of how much my dick wanted it to.
She disappeared around the corner. If she’d given me a moment before bolting, I would have told her that she needed to turn in the opposite direction to make it to the main lobby of the building, but she’d figure it out.
Retreating back to my office, I sat back down and opened my laptop. Opening the student portal, I looked up her name. The screen flickered and her profile came up, a grainy picture from the registrar’s office came up. Even in a shit picture, she was beautiful.
Maybe I was a sucker for punishment by keeping her in my class.
First-year student. No other post-secondary. Her other education came from a private tutor in Italy. That wasn’t overly strange, but it certainly brought up questions of who she was. Private tutors usually meant a family with money and prestige.
“Hmm.”
Grabbing my tablet, I pulled up Google, inputted her name and frowned when nothing came up. Not a single thing. Not a single social media account or profile. Nothing about any type of graduation or attendance of any school. For a girl her age, it seemed off even if she was from a different country.
Going back to the school profile I searched for an emergency contact and my frown deepened. Nothing again. There needed to be an emergency contact or backup phone number but there wasn’t – nothing at all. They should have asked for it when she went to the registrar’s office and had her IDs issued to her.
At least she was of age, although twenty-one was rather young for me to want to pursue her. Borderline cradle robbing.
“Well, that’s interesting.” It only made me want to find out more about her. There are only a select few people who would be this hidden from the world and be attending this establishment. I saw the handbag she had over her shoulder and the monograms on her backpack. Something told me they weren’t knock-offs.
“Who are you, Miss Marinotti?” I should just leave it alone. Teach the class, give her a mark and be done with it.
But I couldn’t. Only one night with her and she was already under my skin.
Sophia
Bursting out of the school after my final class of the day, I started making my way to my dorm and then stopped myself. No. I needed to find out what in the hell kind of game the girls at the sorority were playing. The more I thought about it the more confident I was in the assumption that they knew he was a professor, and they were setting me up. Maybe they even knew he was going to be my teacher. Either way, I was going to get to the bottom of it and have those photos removed permanently. For his sake more than mine. I didn’t want my childish behavior to have a negative effect on him or his career.
I was still ashamed of myself for acting like such a child.
For what? Friends? Did I really want to be associated with women who would be so conniving?
As if I should talk. My entire family fortune was built around lies, violence and coercion. It was dog-eat-dog in the world I grew up in, although Papa had kept me rather secluded from most of it. It came to a point where seeing men with guns strapped to them and literal suitcases of obscene amounts of cash were commonplace. So, if I could manage living in that world, then a few snotty sorority girls should be easy enough.
I’d learned the hard way that heels were never the way to go, so I was sporting a pair of bright white runners that were so comfortable that it felt like I was walking on air with each step I took. Reaching the sorority house, I didn’t hesitate as I stepped inside. I didn’t have to go far to find both Candace and Rebecca. They were both in the main room just inside the door chattering away with some of the other sisters.
Candace was the first to notice me. Looking up, she grinned up at me from her spot on a pink fur rug on the floor next to the fireplace which was glowing brightly. Close to a dozen of the sisters surrounded her. I was going to have to make a scene in front of them all. Shit.
“Sophia! Our Italian soon-to-be sister! Welcome! How was your first day of classes?”
All eyes shifted to me.
“Good.” I smiled as best I could with the anger coursing through me. There was no sense causing a scene. I just had to get to the bottom of this – that’s all. “Could I speak to you privately for a moment?”
Her smile didn’t falter. “It’s okay, we’re all sisters here. Whatever you have to say can be said to everyone.”
“It’s rather personal. I’d prefer it just be us.”
Her smile faltered for a moment before returning brighter than ever. “Sure.” Pushing herself up to her feet, she crossed the room to join me at the entranceway. “Follow me to my office.”
She led me down the hallway to a small office room at the back of the house. “Close the door behind you.” Proceeding inside she took a seat at the desk and waited for me to do as instructed.
Closing the door, I took a seat across the desk from her, feeling slightly uneasy about the situation and the formality that she was showing. I suppose I did ask to speak privately. Maybe she was just taking my request to heart?
