Nope. Bad idea.
Before, I could protest he added in a tone that told me that he had no intention of taking no for an answer, “It’ll only take a moment. Follow me.”
What could I do? Several students were staring at us. It would be more of a scene if I refused. I swallowed down my reservations and followed him to the podium where he gathered his belonging, stashed them into his case and motioned for me to follow him out the side door.
Why did I feel like I was being pulled into the principal’s office?
“My office is just down the hallway.” He led me down a narrow corridor which I suspected was a staff-only hallway considering how deserted it seemed. Made it convenient for the professors moving from class to class, I supposed.
Reaching a door marked 1290 he pulled a set of keys from the pocket of his black pants and unlocked the door. Stepping aside, he motioned for me to enter before following behind and closing the door behind us.
Was he going to throw me against the wall and have his way with me in his office? My pussy clenched and the thrill of anticipation rushed through me. I seriously doubted it but damn if my body didn’t want him to.
“Have a seat.” He motioned to a little wooden chair across from his desk as he sat down in the brown leather chair behind it.
Sitting, I held my backpack on my lap, gripping it so tightly that my knuckles began to turn white. Taking a deep breath in, I slowly released it and smiled. I just needed to relax and get it over with. “What can I do for you?”
A wide grin spread across his lips as his eyes looked me up and down. “You left in a hurry yesterday morning.”
“I umm- ” I cringed. Fuck, this was more awkward than I would have imagined.
“I was hoping that you would have at least stayed for breakfast. I make an incredible omelet.”
“I had to get prepared for class today.”
Slowly, Zack – I mean - Professor Von nodded giving me a look that said he thought I was full of shit. “I see. So, you’d be completely prepared if I quizzed you on the first chapter?”
Sitting up a little straighter, I squared my shoulders and smiled. “Sure would. I have the first two chapters memorized. Ask me anything.”
“Okay.” He clucked his tongue off the roof of his mouth, his eyes drinking me in. “Why’d you really leave yesterday morning?”
“I meant about the chapter.”
“I didn’t. Why did you really leave? What’s the deal? You came out of nowhere. Came on strong and then ditched me.”
My mind was spinning. I sure as hell couldn’t tell him it was a dare, a way of me securing myself a spot in the sorority. The more that I thought about my behavior the more embarrassed of it I was.
“It was a good night. I’d drank a little more than I should have and I-” Running a hand through my hair, I was at a loss. “If I’d known you would be my professor, I wouldn’t have ever behaved like that. I’m honestly embarrassed and I’m normally not like that. I guess I just let my hormones get the best of me.”
“I’m pretty sure I was there too, so I should share in the blame.”
Chewing at my bottom lip, I looked down at the floor a moment and then back up at him. “I can drop the class. It’s probably for the best.”
“What are you majoring in?”
“Sociology.”
“Then you need this class to continue on.”
“I can try to get into one with someone else.”
Leaning forward he braced his elbows on the desktop and eyed me. “They’re all full. You need this class.”
“Then what do you suggest?”
“I think the only thing we can do in this instance is to just pretend our night together never happened. We’re adults and we can keep this professional. Does anyone know about us?”
I thought about the girls who assigned him to me, then slowly shook my head. “No.” I was such a fucking liar. They had photo proof. I’d have to ensure that it didn’t go anywhere. It wasn’t his fault they chose him. Besides, that was before classes began. How were we to know how this was going to end?
“Okay. That’s a deal.”
He stood and I follow his lead. Walking around the desk he led me to the doorway and opened it for me. “Have a good second half of your day, Miss Marinotti.”
As I moved past him, my breast brushed against his arm sending a shiver through me. God, how could I have such a reaction from a simple touch? Looking up quickly, I caught his gaze and the electricity that I’d felt with him that night flared up and I shivered despite myself. If he were to kiss me right now, I’d be putty in his hands. Rushing the rest of the way out of the room, I didn’t look back as I disappeared down the hallway not sure where I was going but needing to get as much distance between myself and Professor Von as possible.
