“You know the rules, Abe. Every student comes to at least one session a month, and yours was due last week,” Luke comments, biting into an apple while he looks for the bag he dropped yesterday.
Once he finds it, he turns and sees I’m ready too.
“Are you heading out? I can walk you to class if you like.”
“As you just pointed out, you have a session with Abe, so it makes more sense to walk over with him. Cain can show Everly where to go. They both have the same first class, English lit.”
The smile slips from Luke’s face, but he nods and indicates for Abe to hurry up. “Come on, boy wonder. I have places to be and problems to solve.”
“And I have Jenny Saunders to console. Her boyfriend just dumped her. I need to tell her the best way to get over that loser is to get under me.”
“First world problems that thankfully can wait.”
“That’s easy for you to say. But have you seen Jenny’s—”
“Abel, that’s enough,” Aslanov snaps.
Abel? As in Cain and Abel? Yikes. Talk about bad mojo.
Abe huffs and storms off, leaving Luke to follow him.
“Cain?” Aslanov shouts.
Cain appears from his room with his bag over his shoulder and a scowl on his face.
“Show Miss Sinclair where English lit is,” he orders before heading back to his room.
Cain glares at me like he was just ordered to give me his car.
“Are you always this cheerful in the morning?”
He grunts and walks away without a word, leaving me to follow along behind him.
“Oh, this is going to be so much fun.”
