“Harper, how do you know about their story?”

“You told me... duh.”

“No I didn’t,” I respond, and look over at Tessa. “Do you say something to her in the hospital?”

“No.”

She looks around the room, and then starts to shake. “Okay, so maybe it’s a memory. I don’t know, but can we not make such a big deal about it. I feel like a freak show over here now with everyone staring at me.”

She’s starting to get her memory back, or at least one so far. This gives me hope that she would regain the rest.

Harper rearranges on the couch and finishes what she was saying before I interrupted her. “Okay—so I somehow remember a bit of your story—it’s a beautiful one. You guys look so happy.”

Tessa and Harper pretty much talk about their epic love story for the next hour, while Damon and I sit back and listen. To watch their faces and expressions as the story unfolds—is sweet.

The oven beeps and dinner is done. Harper runs off to the kitchen, while we take our places at the dining room table, waiting to see what she has made.

She comes in with honey mustard baked chicken, mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, and rolls. “Dig in, guys.”

One thing about us Jacksons, we don’t have to be told twice, especially about a home cooked meal.

“Glad to see he found someone who can cook. He needs that. Liam could burn water if that was possible.”

The atmosphere is perfect, and the conversation flows without hesitation all throughout dinner. Before we know it, the night is over, and they are heading out the door. “Thank you guys for coming.”

“It was really nice to see you again, Harper. You’ll make a great addition to the family,” Damon says.

Jeez. Slow down. Don’t scare her away.

As the door shuts behind them, I apologize. We’ve got a long way to go. If she could remember their story, then maybe she would remember other things like the night we met.
