There was one person who was noticeably missing. Kathleen Daughtry. She had apparently stormed off to a golf cart and was whisked away to her trailer. She had another few hours of filming to do today, but Luke was finished.

The producer of the movie was the last one to speak to Luke, and I was standing next to him by that point. His arm was around my waist, almost as if he was afraid I’d bolt.

“You don’t even want to think about it, Luke?” the producer asked.

With a soft laugh, Luke replied, “Mike, I appreciate you asking me to direct a film, but I honestly am walking away. I have another life I’m anxious to start.”

Mike looked at me and sighed, but then smiled. “I get it. But you could have both worlds, you know.”

“I could, but that’s not what I want.”

Looking up at Luke, I felt my knees go weak. I loved this man so much, and I couldn’t wait to show him exactly that the moment we got to our hotel room.

“Then I won’t keep you any longer. I’ll see you around, Luke Walters.”

Luke reached his hand out and shook Mike’s. “Later, Mike.”

Steering me toward a golf cart where Hank was sitting at the wheel, Luke and I walked toward our new life together. Arm in arm.

Luke

My phone buzzed on the side table, and I rolled to pick it up. It was the text I’d been waiting for.

Hank: They’re here and waiting in the lobby.

With a smile, I typed back my reply.

Me: Give me ten minutes to wake up my bride and get dressed.

Hank: This is Bree we’re talking about, Luke. I’ll give you thirty.

Laughing, I set my phone down and rolled back over. Bree was sleeping on her stomach, her back rising and falling with each breath she took. I kissed her soft skin, then chased it with my tongue.

“Mmm, have I mentioned how much I love your kisses on my body?” she said.

“You may have screamed it out a time or two.”

She chuckled and rolled over. “What time is it?”

“It’s two.”

Shooting up, she replied, “In the afternoon?”

I laughed. “Yes. We’ve officially been in this hotel room for nearly three days.”

“We probably need to get back to reality. I feel bad leaving my folks alone at the bed and breakfast.”

Running my finger down the side of her arm, I watched as goosebumps appeared on her flawless body. “Don’t worry, I plan on making it up to them.”

“Making what up?” she asked as she stretched. My eyes landed on her perfect breasts.

“Stealing their daughter away from them.”

She smiled. “What do you plan on doing?”

“I thought they might like a trip.”

“A trip?” she asked.

“Yeah. I overheard your mom telling another guest that she’s always wanted to go to Ireland.”

Bree raised a single brow. “You’re going to send my parents to Ireland?”

I nodded. “Ireland in September, I hear, is the perfect time of year…and isn’t that when their anniversary is?”

She laughed and nodded. “Yes, it is.”

Her eyes turned smoldering as her gaze drifted over my bare chest.

“As much as I want to make love to you,” I said, “we have company coming up to the room.”

With wide eyes, she asked, “Company? Can Hank not leave you alone for a single day?”

Laughing, I leaned over and took one of her nipples into my mouth and sucked on it before moving to the other one. She let out a little sigh of pleasure.

Glancing up, I said, “It’s a jeweler from Boston. Hank arranged for them to come and bring some rings for us.”

She blinked a few times. “Excuse me?”

Rolling over and slipping out of bed, I reached for my new pair of jeans that were sitting on the chair next to the large, king-size bed, along with a new shirt. Bree and I had managed to slip away yesterday evening to do some shopping, since neither one of us had any clothes here except what we had on our backs. We’d also needed toiletries.

The country club boasted a few designer clothing stores, and Bree had quickly gotten lost in one of the boutiques. She’d even FaceTimed Candace, and they’d made arrangements to come back for a shopping trip soon.

“I asked Hank to have some rings brought up from a jeweler in Boston,” I repeated. “They’re here.”

Her eyes went wide, and she flew out of bed. “They’re here here? As in the hotel here?”

I nodded and pulled the shirt over my head. “Yep.”

She darted one way and then another. “Oh my God, I need to get dressed. Fix my hair. Put makeup on!”

Laughing, I sat down on the bed to put on socks. “Bree, you only need to get dressed. They don’t care if you have makeup on.”

She paused while looking at the two dresses she was holding up, one in each hand. “Do you not know me at all, Luke Morrison?”
