Day smiled wide. “Was he all growly and snarling?”

“Yes.” The nursed sucked his teeth and rolled his eyes.

“Yes! That means he’s getting better already.” Day pumped his fist in the air.

“You guys have issues.” Jax shook his head. “Okay, you know the drill. Call me if you need me. He’s on a bland diet right now until the nausea is completely gone. Give him the meds on time and let him get as much rest as he can.”

“Got it.” Day walked his brother to the door.

He went into the kitchen for another cup of coffee. After scanning God’s freezer, he took out some chicken and a few cans of vegetables to make homemade soup until he could get to the store.

Hate This Helpless Shit

God was staring at the television but not really watching it. He was in complete agony. Not because he was sick, but because he was so weak he couldn’t even get up to piss or feed himself. He had a tube stuck in his cock, which was extremely uncomfortable, especially after Day had given him a semi with the promise he’d made. God tried not to think about Day’s lips caressing the side of his face or the way he smelled.

Day had come for him. He’d only missed one meeting at work and his partner… his friend, had come for him. God had barely made it to the bathroom to puke after he lay in bed for hours trying to muster the strength to get up. When he fell to the floor after retching everything out of his stomach, including what felt like the lining, he couldn’t get off the floor. He’d never been so happy and so mortified at the same time to see Leonidis Day.

He was now lying there in bed feeling slightly better and slowly regaining his strength. He could hear Day in his kitchen and could smell something absolutely wonderful permeating the air. He tried to call out for Day but ended up coughing instead. “Fuck,” he groaned.

Day came barreling around the corner. “Cash, are you all right?”

The bed dipped and God looked over at his partner. Day was in one of his APD T-shirts and a pair of his sweats—they were four sizes too big—but he looked damn delicious in them. Day began wiping his face with a cool rag, and it felt wonderful. His touch was tender and caring. Day winked at him and God had to take a deep breath to try to hold down his impending hard-on.

“Were you trying to call me, babe?”

God brought his hand up to rest on Day’s solid thigh. Day picked his hand up and lightly kissed each knuckle. “Do you want another glass of tea?”

God shook his head back and forth. Damn he hated his partner having to take care of him hand and foot.

“Stop it. If it was me, you’d be doing the same thing,” Day told him sternly.

God sometimes forgot that they could almost read each other's thoughts. He wasn’t surprised Day could see in his face that he didn’t like appearing weak in front of him.

Day moved the cool cloth down lower to wipe his neck off. “I’m fixing you some soup, and I don’t want any problems about eating it either.” Day leaned in and put his forehead to his. “I know what you’re thinking, but: You. Are. Mine. I will take care of you until you are one hundred percent better.”

God felt the pad of Day’s thumb brush over his lips and he vaguely realized that he was holding his breath.

“Leo,” God whispered.

“Shh. Don’t talk, you need to rest. I’m going to give you some more medicine and when you wake up, I’m going to feed you again. If you snarl at me even once, I’m going to molest you while you sleep.”

God quirked his lip up. It’d been so long since someone had cared for him like this. Day had his back on the streets; he never doubted that. But this was a different kind of care. This was the kind of care that led to relationships and eventually love.

God tried to get comfortable. He watched Day push two syringes into his IV port as if he had a medical degree. His heart almost exploded when Day bent down and kissed his forehead while tucking the covers under his chin. True to form, before Day walked out the door he threw God a sexy kiss over his shoulder.

Sexy bastard. You’re mine too.

The Feud

Day was letting his soup simmer while God continued to nap. It was almost four and Day had to admit that he was getting a little stir-crazy or cabin fever, whatever the hell it was called. After leaving the station at the end of a day he’d either go home and work in his yard, build model cars, cook, always something. Day didn’t like to just sit around and do nothing. After exercising, he’d showered and put on some more of God’s clothes. He peeked in the bedroom and saw that God had shifted to his side, but still slept soundly.
