Later, once we had showered and I was nestled underneath the covers between my guys, I pulled them each in for a kiss and smiled as they both placed their hands on my round belly.
Micah’s breath caught in the back of his throat, his eyes going wide as he met my gaze. “I think I felt the baby kick.”
“I think I did, too,” Axel quickly nodded, gently pressing his palm into my side. “Was it really a kick, Jasmine?”
I nodded, laughing. “It was. Our baby already recognizes both of you. Always so restless whenever I’m near the two of you.”
Micah planted another kiss on my cheek. “I hope the baby knows how much we already love it. And how much we love its mama.”
“Do you think the baby can hear our voices?” Axel asked, leaning in closer to my belly. “This is one of your daddies, kiddo. Just checking in to let you know we can’t wait to meet you.”
My cheeks were starting to hurt from smiling so much, but it was completely worth it. Witnessing my guys’ excitement over their new son or daughter made me want to keep on smiling all night long.
“I’m pretty sure the time will fly by, and my due date will be here before we know it, just like it happened last time,” I said. “But until then, I promise this baby can feel the love when we’re together. Just like I can.”
“That makes me happy,” Micah tried and failed to stifle a yawn. “And now the baby should also know that it’s awake way past bedtime.”
“Not for long,” I shook my head as a yawn of my own overtook me. “Can we sleep like this tonight? With both of your hands on me? It feels nice.”
“Anything you want, baby,” Axel said, draping a possessive leg over mine as he shifted even closer against me.
“That’s right,” Micah nodded, reaching down to find my hand so he could entwine my fingers with his. “Anything you want. Anytime. I promise.”
It was a promise they never seemed to get tired of making. A promise I knew without a doubt they would both keep for the rest of our lives.
