“Yes, you do!” Kaylee exclaimed. “What happened to you last night? I heard you come in late but I didn’t want to bother you. And besides, Talon and I were, um, otherwise engaged.”
Mia laughed, feeling joy flood her. Always before when her best friend had hinted at the amazing sex she had with her new Kindred husband, it had felt like an inside joke that Mia didn’t quite get. Now, she got it! She understood why the two of them couldn’t keep their hands off each other and why they felt the need to keep disappearing into their bedroom.
Talon makes her feel the way Storn made me feel last night, she thought. Which was absolutely amazing.
“Did you go back to the Med Center after you left the park last night?” Kaylee asked, still frowning in confusion. “Did they give you some new kind of medicine?”
“No, nothing like that,” Mia protested, smiling. “It was a different kind of medicine, but nothing I got at the Med Center.”
“Where then?” Kaylee demanded. “What happened, Mia?”
Mia took a deep breath.
“I met someone,” she said in a rush. “I met someone and he healed me, Kaylee.”
“Oh my God!” Kaylee put her hands to her face, her eyes going wide. “You met a Blood Kindred, didn’t you? They’re able to heal the women they love with their essence. Talon always heals me when I get a little cut or a scrape! Oh, I bet Talon knows him—quick, tell me his name so I can bespeak him and see if he does!”
“Calm down!” Mia said, nearly laughing at her friend’s frantic excitement. “I didn’t meet a Blood Kindred warrior, Kaylee.”
“But…then who did you meet?” Kaylee’s blonde eyebrows knit in confusion. “Unless they take some special potion their scientists developed, I don’t think any other kind of Kindred can heal their women.”
“Maybe not Kindred from this universe,” Mia murmured.
“I don’t understand?” Kaylee shook her head. “What are you saying? That you met a Kindred warrior from another universe?”
Mia nodded. Sitting down at the piano in the middle of the music room, she began to play her happy song.
“Exactly. In fact, I met the warrior you were telling me about on our way up here. You know—the one you said looked like a faun?”
“You met Mr. Tumnus?” Kaylee’s eyes went wide. “Oh my God, Mia! You mean to tell me you had bonding sex with Mr. Tumnus?”
“Slow down!” Mia said laughing. “He’s a Satyr Kindred, not a faun and his name is Storn, not Mr. Tumnus. Oh, and we didn’t have bonding sex.”
“You must have done something, though!” Kaylee said. She narrowed her eyes. “Come on, Mia—fess up. What did you do? How did he heal you?”
“He just kissed me,” Mia said innocently. “He said the Goddess has given his kind of Kindred—the Monstrum Kindred—the power to heal the women they care about by kissing them. He called it ‘the Healing Kiss’ or something like that, I think.”
“But something else happened, too—didn’t it?” Kaylee demanded. “Come on, tell me, Mia—you’re practically glowing.”
“All right…”
Mia could feel herself blushing—she never said anything about her sex life to Kaylee, because there was never anything to say. But now that there was, she definitely wanted to share it with her best friend.
“Well—go on!” Kaylee made an impatient motion with one hand. “I’m all ears!”
“He…he kissed me where I was hurt so he could heal me and then he, er, kept on kissing me,” Mia said, blushing harder than ever.
“Oh my God—did he taste you? Kindred are always wanting to go downtown, you know? I mean, it’s Talon’s favorite thing—I think he likes it better than actual sex, to be honest.” Kaylee grinned and pointed a finger at Mia. “But you have to be careful—if you let him taste you, it won’t be long before he wants to bond you to him. And then after that, there’s no going back—bonding with a Kindred is for life.”
“He didn’t, er, taste me—he said if he did he would want to bond me and I wasn’t ready for that yet,” Mia admitted. “But he did, um…he…um…”
“He what? He what?” Kaylee was practically dancing with impatience and Mia couldn’t hold it in anymore.
“Kaylee, he gave me the most amazing orgasm—two of them, I think,” she said in a rush, feeling her cheeks get even hotter. “It was incredible—like nothing I’ve ever felt before!”
Kaylee put a hand on her hip.
“Because I’m guessing that bastard, Hank, never gave you a single one.”
“He never even tried,” Mia admitted. “Not that I ever wanted him to. I just wanted him to get it over with. But it’s different with Storn.”
“I guess so! He’s a Kindred—they are all about their woman’s pleasure,” Kaylee said, grinning. “Plus, he’s got to have some pretty interesting equipment, considering he’s half animal. Did you get a look at his peen?”
