Twenty
God, I can’t believe I did that—can’t believe I actually invited him to suck my nipples. And then I rubbed myself off against his cock! That was so unprofessional.
Unprofessional or not, it had set her body humming and Danni could feel herself wanting more. It was as though the orgasm she’d had was only an appetizer, just enough to whet her appetite and make her crave a deeper kind of pleasure.
She wondered, as she splashed in the large, square tub, if the big Kindred would be as good at making love as he was at sucking her nipples. Some men just couldn’t take direction and, upon first meeting him, Danni would have sworn that Bravik was firmly in that camp. But now she wasn’t so sure. After the way he’d asked her to guide him and tell him exactly how she wanted her nipples sucked…
“No!” Danni muttered to herself. “God, what’s wrong with me? Why can’t I stop thinking like this, even though I know it’s wrong?”
Was it the fact that she hadn’t been with someone in so long that was getting to her? Maybe the fact that she hadn’t been taking care of herself lately? Danni had a wide variety of toys at home and she wasn’t shy about using them. But lately, she just hadn’t wanted to get off by herself.
She firmly believed that some people were born to be on their own and not need anyone, but she knew in her heart she wasn’t one of them. Sometimes she just wanted the touch of a man’s hand on her and the gentle but firm way Bravik had touched her had woken a hunger inside her she’d been trying to suppress for years…
“There you go again—stop it!” Danni whispered to herself angrily. She did not need anyone to help her get off—most certainly not the big Kindred, she told herself firmly. What had happened between them was a mistake, pure and simple and she needed to stop hiding in the bathroom and go out there and tell him so!
Pulling the lever that drained the bathtub, Danni got out and looked for something to dry off with. At last she spotted some long mats of purple-blue moss hanging down the wall opposite her. Were those some kind of towels?
A tug on one of them told her the moss was firmly attached to the ceiling, so Danni had to resort to rubbing against the cool, soft purple fibers. To her surprise, the moss seemed to suck the beads of moisture away from her skin almost the moment she made contact with it. So, though it was a rather unconventional way to dry off, the long moss mats were very effective.
Luckily, she had left her carry-all cube in the bathroom earlier, so she was able to slip into her nightgown as soon as she was dry. It didn’t cover much more than the feasting gown, unfortunately, since it was also made of a thin, silky material. Danni hadn’t packed with the idea that she’d be sharing a bed with her coworker. But it was all she had to wear, so she left the feasting gown hanging in the bathroom and put it on.
Then she marched out of the bathing area, ready to find the big Kindred and give him a piece of her mind. She was damn well going to make it clear that what had happened between them was not going to happen again—no matter how much her body might want it to.
Twenty-One
Danni marched out into the living area, certain she would see the big Kindred still sitting on the couch in front of the glowing fireplace. But Bravik wasn’t there.
Frowning, she went into the dining area, thinking he might have gotten hungry and decided to pluck himself some fruit for a late-night snack. But he wasn’t there either.
Feeling irritated, she called for him.
“Bravik? Where are you? We need to talk.”
“In here, little girl,” his deep, growling voice answered from the bedroom. “Already in bed. Come find me.”
Danni bristled. If he thought that just because of what had happened between them she was automatically going to sleep with him, he had another think coming!
Hands on her hips, she marched to the bedroom and glared into the gloom. Thin, silvery light was coming through the one window, showing the big Kindred already in one side of the bed. His eyes glowed softly in the darkness.
“If you think I’m going to sleep with you because of what just happened between us—” Danni began.
“Of course I don’t think that,” Bravik interrupted. “Come on, little girl—give me some credit. I know you didn’t mean to do what we just did.”
“I…you do?” Danni was taken aback.
“Of course not. I didn’t either. Not that I didn’t enjoy it, but that’s beside the point,” he growled. “Now come over here and let’s talk it out. No sense in us going back to being enemies and snapping at each other all the fucking time.”
