“Anything, Lydia. You can ask me anything.”

“The hood. Will you wear it again for me?”

His slow grin was one of pure male sin. “Mmm, you are such a sweet surprise.”

Turn Me On

1

“No, damn it, not again!” Roni shouted as her computer froze for the fourth time that morning. It was Saturday afternoon and her one day to get her paperwork done, and what happens? Her computer fizzles out. It’d been happening more frequently. She’d called the computer repair company out once already and the guy had acted as if it were somehow her fault. As if she wanted

to waste both their time!

She picked up the phone and hit memory six. It was telling that she had the repair company on speed dial.

“J.C.’s Computer Repair, Lisa speaking. How may I help you?”

“Hi, Lisa, it’s Dr. Smart. I’m having that same problem where my monitor freezes. And, yes, I’ve tried rebooting, but it’s not doing any good.”

“Hi, Dr. Smart. Let me check who’s on call real quick.”

“Fine,” Roni said as she grabbed her empty mug and went to the break room for a refresher. As she poured her third cup of coffee, Lisa came back on the line.

“Someone will be out within the hour. Will that work?”

“I suppose it’ll have to work. Thanks, Lisa.”

They ended the call and she went back to her office and stared at her monitor, willing it to work. It was no use. She was stuck waiting for it to be fixed. Again! When her cell phone rang, Roni snatched it up, grateful for the distraction. She checked the number and smiled.

“Hey, Lydia, how’re things going with that hot lawyer of yours?” Roni had known Lydia since grade school, but it wasn’t until recently that Lydia had gotten serious about a man. She was happy for Lydia. She deserved to be cherished and Dane seemed perfect in the role of lover.

“He’s the reason I’m calling. He wants to invite you and Jeannette over for a barbeque next Saturday. Think you can make it?”

“Will it be your place or his?” Since Lydia and Dane had only just started dating there hadn’t been time to work out which apartment they’d be keeping and which they would be letting go after the lease was up.

“His. He wants to wow you guys, I think. Win you over.”

“After the stunt he pulled? He’s got a lot of wowing to do.”

“He’s apologized a million times. Really, it’s all good. Besides, I’m starting to think things happen for a reason.”

Roni smiled. It did her heart good to hear her repressed friend so blissfully content. “Heck, if you’re happy, I’m happy. He just better treat you right.”

“I’m quite happy. I’ll be happier if you came to the barbeque.”

“Sure, it sounds like fun.” Roni heard a knock on her front door and said, “I need to run. The computer repair guy is here. Call me later and let me know what to bring.”

“Wait, computer guy? It’s broken again?”

Roni gritted her teeth. “Unfortunately. If they don’t fix it this time, I’m finding someplace else to handle my computer problems.”

“No doubt.”

They said their good-byes and Roni slid her chair back and went out front to greet her visitor. The man on the other side of the glass door had her stopping in her tracks though. He was tall, over six feet, with midnight black hair cut a little too long by today’s standards. His black T-shirt stretched across a mouthwatering chest and tucked neatly into a pair of well-worn jeans. The bulge between a pair of powerful thighs turned her blood to molten lava.

“Damn, now that’s delicious,” Roni said in a low tone. As her gaze caught on his, she watched his lips kick up into an ornery grin. It was as if he’d heard her, and although Roni knew that was impossible, she still felt her cheeks heating in embarrassment.

She crossed the waiting room and unlocked the door. Pushing it open a few inches, she said, “J.C.’s Repair?”
