12:05 P.M
I walked in the salon five minutes late because I had to drop my baby over at my mom’s house. Ma’kai’s salon was located in the city of Miami and when we stepped out of my car, a bunch of bitches and niggas were sitting in front of the salon. I could feel the hateful glares from the bitches as Monae and I walked passed them. Right now, I had on a pair of army fatigue shorts from True Religion with a green tank top to match. My gold thong sandals showed off my pretty feet and a matching True Religion hat adorned my head because my hair wasn’t done. Under the hat, my natural hair was in a long ponytail, which swung from left to right with each step that I took. I didn’t have my purse with me; I had left it in the trunk of my car, but I did have cash in my pockets. We walked into the salon and it wasn’t very packed for it to be a Saturday afternoon.
“That’s Ma’kai right there,” Monae said, pointing her out.
I gave credit when credit was due, and Ma’kai was beautiful. She was caramel complexion, standing at about 5’4”, slim, but she had a big booty. I don’t know if it was her’s or what, but it looked good on her. I normally wasn’t a fan of lace fronts, but I loved her jet black, bone straight lace front that she had on. With all that prettiness, you could look at the bitch and tell she had a bad ass attitude. She was obviously big headed from the 30k followers she had on Instagram because of the simple fact that she could do hair, and she thought her shit didn’t stink. It’s cool though because I wasn’t here for conversation. I just needed my hair done, and after this, she didn’t have to ever worry about me contacting her again.
“Ma’kai, we here for the 12 o’clock appointment” Monae said.
“Okay, who going to go first?” she asked, and I went ahead and went first.
An hour later, after getting my hair washed, sitting up under the dryer for a deep conditioner, washed again and then sitting under the dryer once more, I was now sitting in Ma’kai’s chair about to get my hair flat ironed. She had the chair facing the mirror and she stood directly behind me, trying to make my part down the middle very straight. I watched her through the mirror and it looked like she was thinking about somethi
ng. I already had my guard up and I was waiting for her to go ahead and say whatever it was that she had to say.
“I can’t put a finger on it, but you look so damn familiar,” she said to me.
“I don’t know where you would know me from because this my first time ever hearing of you. You got kids or anything because I have a children’s clothing store in the mall, so you probably saw me there,” I said.
She knew exactly who the fuck I was. The bitch was trying to be funny, but I wanted to see if she had the balls to tell me where she knew me from.
“No, that’s not it. You’re Quan’s baby mama, right?” she asked me.
I smirked. “You know the answer to that already, so why you asking me that?” I said, kind of annoyed.
“No need for the attitude, lil mama, I was just asking a question. You look like a smart woman, why would you come get your hair done by somebody who used to fuck your baby daddy?” she boldly asked me.
“I don’t believe that. He said he never fucked you before. He’s the one that gave me your number.” Right when it left my mouth, I regretted it because it wasn’t until now that I realized that this was some bullshit. Jaquan had straight played my ass.
Ma’kai laughed and then looked at me through the mirror. “And you believed him? How else would he know that I do hair if he ain’t never fuck me before! Of course, he was going to tell you he didn’t fuck me. That’s what niggas do, they fuckin’ lie!”
She had hit a nerve. I took the cape that from around me, and without thinking, I grabbed the hot comb from off of her counter and hit her across her face with that shit. I wasn’t even about to fight dirty with her, so I threw it on the floor and used my hands to get with her ass. She had me by at least three inches in height and about ten pounds in weight, but I wasn’t going to let that be a reason why I couldn’t beat her ass. These bitches in this salon probably couldn’t stand her ass because nobody in this bitch tried to pull me off of her.
I was taking my frustrations out on her because I was tired of this nigga fuckin’ embarrassing me. He looked me in my damn face and he fuckin’ lied to me like it was nothing. Like it was so easy. Then on top of that, he had me call this bitch for her to do my hair when all along he had fucked her! How disrespectful can these niggas be?
“Charlie, chill, let’s go before somebody call the damn police on your ass,” Monae said, pulling me from off of old girl.
I gave her one last punch to the face and I stood up.
“You got to be the dumbest bitch in the world. What, you gone fight every bitch that done slept with your lying ass baby daddy? In case you forgot, you have a baby by a rapper and a rapper that slings dick around like it’s going out of style. Clearly that nigga don’t respect you because he sent you to the same bitch that just fucked him not even two weeks ago for you to come get your hair done. Birthmark right above his dick. Baby girl, that motha fucka is good, so I don’t blame you for acting up like this.” She smirked.
I went into my pants pocket and threw her a hundred-dollar bill on the floor. I wasn’t about to give this hoe the satisfaction of calling me cheap because even though she didn’t finish my hair completely, she did wash it and gave it a deep conditioner. I walked out of the salon with my head held high, but boy was it all an act. I was hurt, angry, and embarrassed. I threw Monae the keys when we got outside and I told her to drive. As soon as she pulled out of the parking lot, I burst out crying.
“I swear I got to be the dumbest bitch alive. What rapper is going to be committed to just one woman? You would think that the years I put in with this man would count for something! I was there when that nigga ain’t have nothing, and he turns around and shits on me! I never asked your brother for shit in my life, and in the end, I get his ass to kiss! Take me to my mama house so I can go get my baby. Don’t tell your stupid ass brother shit that went down. Fuck him, and I promise to God that I’m done with his ass.”
Monae just drove as I continued to fuss. I know she probably wasn’t responding because she felt like I would take her brother back sometime tomorrow, but I swear to God that this was the last strike. He fucked up when he sent me to that bitch to have her do my hair. What’s so crazy to me is the fact that when I asked him the first time if he had fucked her, had he said yes, I wouldn’t have even tripped about it. It would have just saved me the humiliation and embarrassment because I wouldn’t have gone to her. But this was the unthinkable, and I couldn’t see myself forgiving him for this shit no time soon.
Thirty minutes later, we pulled up to my mother’s condo. My mom stayed in a condo out in Hollywood, where she worked as a parole officer. My mother was 44 years old and she didn’t look a day over 25. She swore up and down that she was one of my homegirls, instead of my damn mama. Times like this when I was going through shit with Jaquan, I wished my daddy was still here so that he could fuck his ass up. I knew I couldn’t beat Jaquan’s ass, but I would certainly try because that’s how pissed off I was with his ass. I picked my hat up from off of the floor and put it back on my head. There was a small cut over my right eye, but this was nothing compared to those black eyes that Ma’kai’s ass was about to be blessed with.
“I’m about to go get my baby. You staying in here or you coming inside?” I asked Monae since she was driving my car.
“I’m coming inside. I got to use the bathroom,” she said and then she turned the car off.
We both got out of the car, and a minute later, I was walking into my mother’s house with Monae right on my tail. My mom was sitting on the couch watching Love and Hip Hop while eating a bowl of soup.
“Ma, where my baby? I’m about to bounce,” I said.
There was no time for chit chat. I came to simply get my daughter so I could drop Monae off and then I would be laying low, only telling Toya where I would be because I knew Monae would tell her brother where I had disappeared to. I wouldn’t be far; I was just about to get a hotel room for the next few nights because I knew the first place Jaquan would come looking for me would be my condo.
