Her heart leaped for joy not to mention how wet she grew and her arms wrapped around him hugging him to her. He moved his mouth over hers for a kiss and she took hold of it hungry for the taste of him.

He drove into her over and over, though he stopped once to ask her if she was all right and she smiled and nodded, which had him grinning.

Lord help her, she wanted him as deep inside her as she could get him and instinctively she wrapped her legs around his back and sure enough he sank deeper into her.

Their passion grew, their rhythm turning fast and furious.

Her climax was building even more powerful than before and she could tell that his was as well. And the thought hit her…what if she waited… waited until…

She tightened her legs around him and gripped his arms tightly.

He looked at her and breathlessly asked, “Soon?”

She nodded and tightened her legs around him even more and he moaned driving into her.

She was on the edge again, ready to come, ready to step off and plummet in pleasure and she saw the same in his eyes, felt it in his frantic rhythm and she bucked hard against him driving him into her hard. And only then did she tug at his ear.

He cried out her name and at that precise moment she knew he was coming and she stepped off the edge with him.

Chapter Twenty-four

Cree left Dawn just after sunrise. It was rare that he was not out of bed before daylight rose over the land but today he had a reason to dally and he had dallied. He had woken wrapped around Dawn. She had been so warm, her skin so soft, her scent strong with last night’s endless lovemaking. He hadn’t been able to keep his hands off her and when he touched her she had been so very responsive that he had not wanted to hurry and he hadn’t. And damn if he hadn’t found himself exploding with a never-ending pleasure deep inside her.

He wasn’t sure how many times they had coupled, though it seemed that each time he woke throughout the night and found himself cocooned around her he’d grown hard and his hands would begin to touch her, and then all was lost. And whether it was a quick joining or a lingering one he had burst in a blinding climax.

He smiled, though it fast turned into a scowl thinking what little control he had over himself when it came to Dawn. He had cursed himself, after he finally had gotten a breath, for coming inside her and had cautioned himself not to do it again. But he had paid no heed or perhaps it was that once inside her, he was lost… lost in pure pleasure. His scowl deepened as he entered the keep and made his way to the Great Hall where Sloan was talking with a group of warriors.

“Out for an early morning walk?” Sloan asked his grin much too wide to Cree’s liking.

“Looking to see why you have yet to dispatch the men to find the culprit you failed to find yesterday,” Cree said as he approached the group.

The warriors bowed their head and stepped aside clearing a path for Cree to Sloan who had not stopped grinning.

“I’ve given final instructions to the men,” Sloan said. “They were just about to take their leave.”

Cree looked to each one of them. “I expect results. This is your home now and I intend to see it kept safe for everyone.”

The men nodded vigorously.

“Go and find who threatens our home,” Cree ordered and the men took off.

Sloan shook his head. “They would follow you to hell.”

“They already have.”

“Drink and food for, my lord,” Sloan called out to one of servant lassies who smiled sweetly at him, bobbed her head, and hurried off.

Cree went to the table by the hearth to sit and stretch his legs out recalling a similar scene last night and the decision he had made and though control for his never-ending desire for Dawn remained a concern, he could not say that he had regretted returning to her.

Sloan joined him, stopping to cast an inquisitive glance over Cree before claiming a seat opposite him at the table. “You had a good night.”

Cree didn’t turn around to face him. “Good enough.” He would not discuss what had transpired between Dawn and him with Sloan. It was private, meant for Dawn and him alone and the thought surprised him. Sloan and he had shared numerous tales of women but he had no want to share Dawn with him. Dawn was his and only his.

“Dawn’s friend Lila talks nonstop. She spoke much about Dawn while I saw her home.”

That had Cree turning and swinging his long legs over the bench to face Sloan. “Tell me.”
