“That’s what I’m afraid of, that I’ll never be able to forget,” she whispered.***We made our way to a steakhouse down the street. Despite the dim lighting, Amber’s face reflected a visible glow that I couldn’t help but take credit for.

She was looking down at the menu, but my eyes were firmly focused on her.

“What are you in the mood for?” I asked.

She shrugged. “I’m not really that hungry. I just feel like I should eat.”

My phone chimed. I refused to check it.

“You can check your phone. I know you think I’ll be insulted, but I won’t.”

“Nope. No need to. There’s nothing more important than just enjoying the moment right now with you. Whatever it is, it can wait.”

“You’re stronger than I am. I would at least need to see who texted even if I didn’t respond.”

“I don’t care who texted.” I leaned in so that only she could hear what I was about to say. “All I care about is getting something to eat so I can go upstairs and eat you.”

She turned red. My eyes stayed fixed on her neck. I was much too proud of the marks I’d left on it.

“What?” she asked.

“Nothing.”

“You’re looking at me funny.”

“I am? I’m sorry. I don’t mean to. I guess I can’t help it.”

“What are you thinking?” she asked. “Give me the honest answer.”

“You really want to know?”

“Yes.”

Resting my chin on my hand, I stared at her for a bit before I said, “There are a lot of thoughts running through my head. I’m looking at you and thinking that I can’t believe I just fucked you—twice. I’m thinking that it felt better than I ever imagined and that I might be fucked if I think I can keep my hands off you for the rest of the week after today. And I’m already thinking about what I want to do to you when we get back to the hotel—namely discovering what your pussy tastes like. I’m enjoying every second of this day, and I feel like the luckiest man alive. I’m also wondering what’s going through your head.” I reached for her hand. “Your turn.”

Amber’s face turned an even brighter shade of crimson that trickled down in blotches over her pale neck. “I can’t believe how good it felt. In fact, I still feel you in between my legs. I don’t want this day to end. That’s pretty much the extent of it. I won’t allow my mind to go anywhere else because I don’t want things to get complicated.”

“Good. Just stay with me in the moment. This is what it’s all about.”

The waiter served us our steaks, and about halfway through dinner, I had to use the bathroom badly. I hadn’t pissed since before we’d had sex.

“I’ll be right back, okay?”

When I returned from the bathroom, I noticed that Amber’s mood seemed a little off compared to before I left.

“What’s up?”

“Your phone went off again. I peeked at it. I’m sorry.”

“It’s alright…”

“It was Emily. Are you mad?”

Shit. Talk about a mood killer.

“Am I mad that you looked at my phone? No, and after the shit I pulled on you with Gentleman Nine, it wouldn’t be very fair of me to be mad, would it?”

“Anyway, she wants to know if you’re around tonight.”

“Well, I’m not, am I? I’m very busy, in fact.”

Her lips curved into a slight smile, but I could tell Amber was still preoccupied with thoughts of Emily. I couldn’t blame her. I hadn’t exactly made it clear what I was doing about that whole situation. I’d sort of temporarily abandoned it. There was certainly not enough mental energy in me to explore that issue tonight. All I really wanted to do was to go back to the room with Amber and forget about anything else.

My dick could not be tamed. I looked down again at the marks I’d left on her neck and chest and suddenly felt the urge to leave and make a few more.

Enclosing her legs with mine under the table, I said, “You feel like taking the food back to the hotel? I’m suddenly starving for something other than steak.”CHAPTER FOURTEEN* * *AMBERChanning said he would be working late Monday night, so it was the perfect opportunity to have Annabelle over for some girl time.

It didn’t feel right divulging to her everything that Channing and I had done. Even though I shared things with my best friend pretty openly, he and I had agreed not to talk about our business with other people. While Annabelle knew the general gist of what was happening between Channing and me, I chose not to discuss any explicit details with her, and she respected my decision, for the most part. That didn’t mean she didn’t try to get info.

She poured some wine for each of us. “You sure you don’t want to talk about Saturday?”
