I’d gone to Domingo, California with one goal in mind: kick my ex-girlfriend and my ex-best friend out of my favorite vacation home so I could fix it up and sell it. It was high time I stopped being a disaster and started cleaning up the messes from my past, and that seemed like a good place to start — but fate had a funny way of throwing me curveballs that I didn’t know what to do with.
Like Mia, for example. Fiery, brilliant, strong … she was everything I wasn’t, and everything I’d always wanted. I fell for her so hard and so fast it should’ve been embarrassing, especially since she was immune to my charms — she turned me down so many times that she probably could’ve made a career out of it.
Luckily for me, I had nothing but time while the renovations took place and a track record that proved I never knew when to quit.
She had to say yes eventually.
