“I won’t.” Oh, thank God, there was her smile again.

“So, you’re not mad at me anymore?” I needed for us to start somewhere and having her pissed off at me wasn’t a good place to be launching from.

“I’m not mad at you. It’s just these stupid rules. I’ve always been a rule-breaker and here I’m swallowing them faster than I can breathe.” She took a sip of her tea to calm her mounting nerves.

“I know. But don’t think I won’t be trying to change things as soon as I’m in charge. Ireland is a very old country. We have a lot of history and traditions. We have to take baby steps. I might be allowed to be a dashing playboy prince, but as soon as that crown is placed on my head, I have to eat a lot of the same shit you do. I don’t like it any better, trust me. But together, we can make changes.” I took her hand in mine and I meant it.

“I’m willing to try.” That’s all I needed. “And thank you for giving me my own room. I may never use it, but I’m so happy to have one.”

“I figured as much. I’m an idiot if I think I can sweep an up and coming fashion designer off of her feet, fly her to Ireland, and ruin her life all in two days… and not have her wanting to shishkabob my nuts. I’ve been very selfish. We just need contracts signed and we can quietly make our changes together. The only public document is the marriage contract and it’s just a regular marriage contract that everyone in Ireland signs with a few little royal tweaks.”

Before I could say more she threw herself at me and planted a sweet kiss on my lips.

“Wow, that was all that was bothering you?”

“It wouldn’t bother you? I mean I was about to sign my whole life away.”

“Well, you still have to live in Ireland and be my wife, that’s gonna take up quite a bit of your life… and then there are the kids… and…”

“It’s okay. I think I can do it. Just give me an exit clause if I need one.”

“It’s called divorce. When we’re ready, we’ll get a divorce… just like normal people do.” I hated saying the word, but marriage to Avery was just a path to divorce.

I felt sad considering our relationship would eventually end, but I couldn’t dwell on it. I tapped in an order for dinner on my phone that the house staff would prepare and deliver to us and offered for Avery to join me in the bedroom as I wanted to sex her up to clear away the confusion. I kissed her neck and touched her beautiful breasts.

“It’s been a long day, are you ready for some lovin’?” I nibbled from her neck and to her clavicle.

“Are you trying to seduce me, prince?” I loved how responsively playful he’d become.

“Why yes, princess, I am.” I stood and offered my hand to her, then bowed.

“Show me the way,” She curtsied, and my heart felt lighter.

It was already around five in the evening and I had been waiting to make love ever since the plane the night before. She did something to me that was magical and since we were struggling so much in the real world, I wanted to rock her reality between the sheets. As soon as we entered my room I stroked her hair and fingered the lovely ringlets Georg had given her. While her hair was styled beautifully it didn’t represent the wild woman I had met at the bar.

I kissed her cheek and then made love to her mouth. I wanted to erase any doubt she may have ever had. She was an unexplored country. I secretly hoped our love would last longer than the seven years given us. I didn’t want to admit that Avery might be something indelible but there was a strength about her I had rarely encountered in a woman I found so attractive. She unbuttoned her blouse and lowered it down over her shoulders revealing a silky camisole and underwire bra beneath it. I wanted to rip the entire package off of her but instead, I watched as she sensuously stripped the clothing away until she stood before me naked.

“I hope I’m making the right decision,” she said as she laid herself bare and took a long shaky breath.

“You aren’t,” I touched her beautifully full breast and slid the pad of my thumb over the dark nipple and watched it pucker to a peak. “No woman in her right mind would marry me.” I kissed her again, loving her mouth… her breasts, her body.

“What if I fall in love with you?” She held my head and stilled me.

Just the question made my cock rise and harden.
