Hailing down a cab, I jump in and give him the address which is less than a mile from the hotel so I should be there in three minutes or so.
I look at my awesome new phone and sigh. Micah’s a good man or is he just after my pussy. Not that I hadn’t planned on giving him my virginity, but does he really want more or is he looking for a vacation fling?
I don’t have time to ponder his motivations because I’m at the apartment. I drop the ten dollars that were in these shorts into the driver’s hand and step out. My brother stands there with a scornful gaze. “What’s the look for?”
“So you still had more money and you’re complaining?”
The shocked look on my face must be fucking amusing because I can’t even imagine how this clown has the nerve to blame me. “You should have checked my clean clothes, but I’m lucky or I would have had to walk. Why didn’t you go to my job to find me?”
“I did. You weren’t there. Where were you, little sister? Did you earn that ten dollars giving some guy a BJ or something?”
“You’re an asshole. I told you how I got it. It was in a pair of my clean shorts. I was hit by a car and just got out of the hospital.” I reach in my purse to show him the document, but it’s my rookie mistake because he sees the pill bottle. He snatches my purse.
“Give it back, you fucking piece of shit,” I holler. Something in him changes, taking the pills and pocketing them he tosses my purse at me. His face goes blank as if he’s not there anymore, completely devoid of emotion.
“You’re dead to me, Violet. I don’t have a sister. You’re just another dumb slut who doesn’t even deserve to breathe.”
“What is wrong with you?” Who is this man in front of me? I thought he was a jerk before, but this is nuts.
“Wrong with me? You’re the one who doesn’t have a heart. You’re pure evil.” He steps closer to me, staring at me with murder in his dark, soulless looking eyes.
I’m petrified of the man in front of me. I dig through my purse, trying to find my keys, but it takes too long and he’s on me, his hands are like iron grips around my biceps. He starts to drag me toward the building, but I’m not going anywhere he is. I step on his foot, knowing that it’s a painful injury from the accident with my parents. It sends him back, letting me go for just a moment. I’m shocked and stuck in my spot. Before I can react his fist comes flying toward me, cracking me in my face. I crumble but get out my phone.
I’m about to call the cops, but I don’t get the next blow I’m expecting. I look, thinking he’s fled with remorse, but instead, it’s Micah. The man in front of me, looks wild with anger as he pounds into my brother. Tears pour down my face, feeling relief and heartache at the same time.
Chapter Six
Micah
She takes too long for me, so I step outside and look around. She’s nowhere to be found. What the fuck? “Where is she?” I snarl into my phone. I set the tracking on her phone, sharing her location with me. I never told her what I made my billions in. Big tech pays fucking well when you’re a natural at building codes, hacking into security and getting everything you need to succeed.
I step back inside and toss a hundred on the table and walk out. By the time I’m outside, Winston is waiting for me. We follow her signal a mile away to just outside the place of the accident.
A man is standing there by a door to an apartment building. Whoever he is, I need to remove him from her life. The second he puts his hands on her, I’m out of the limo, pinning him to the fucking wall and slamming my fist in his face. “What the fuck is wrong with you?” I clocked him in the jaw. “Don’t ever touch my woman.”
I drop the fucker and then turn to my woman and ask, “Sweetheart, are you okay?”
Tears stream down her face. Seeing her fear and pain, sends me over the edge. “You’re a dead man,” I warn the bastard, kicking him in the ribs, hearing them crack. I scoop up my woman and bring her into the car.
“Violet, talk to me. Tell me you’re okay?”
“I’m not worth the trouble, Micah.”
“You’re worth so much more than you know.” As Winston closes the door, I direct him to take us back to the hotel.
“Who was that? An ex?” If he’s an ex, I might rip his heart out and burn the son of a bitch. She isn’t going back to him. She’s mine now.
