Sniffling, she cups her hands over her mouth and finally nods.
Yes.
Slipping the ring over her finger, I climb to my feet, and yank her into my arms. Pressing my lips to hers, I kiss her. I kiss her because she’s my life. I kiss her because she’s my world.
I kiss her because she’s my everything. Without her, I don’t know where I’d be right now, but I know it wouldn’t be here.
The room erupts in another wave of cheers and applause.
Breaking our kiss, I look up and see that we’re on the big screen. Prairie smiles, tucking her head into my chest. I give a wave to all the fans.
And for the first time in my life, I can actually say everything is perfect.
My father is still the person he was, my brother is still behind bars, and I hope that one day both of them can get the help they need to live again.
To live free. To be untied to the vices that drive them.
But right now, right this very second, my life is perfect.
Because I’m only responsible for myself. For my actions. For my future.
And my future looks really fucking good right now.
