Soon the week would end. She would go back to her quiet life, writing her novels on her laptop in her tiny apartment, going on boring dates with men well-meaning friends set her up with, getting her hopes up when some potential Dom answered one of her ads, only to be woefully disappointed time after time.
She put on her sexiest top. It was black with a built-in panel that lifted and offered her breasts provocatively without the need of a bra. She was tempted to wear her tight black leather miniskirt and high heels but didn’t quite dare, instead deciding on a simple white cotton skirt.
She hurried out of her room, skipping lightly down the stairs in her bare feet. Opening the huge stainless-steel refrigerator, she found the ingredients to make an omelet. She sliced some ham and put on the coffee, humming softly to herself. “I could get used to this housewife stuff,” she said aloud, grinning, “as long as it’s in a kitchen like this and there are two gorgeous men upstairs.”

Daniel looked at the clock. Eight forty-five. He stretched next to his sleeping lover and thought of Alex still cuffed in her room. Slipping out of the bed, he pulled on shorts and padded down the hall. When he stuck his head into Alex’s empty room, he was confused. Was she in the bathroom? It would be hard for a woman to pee with her hands cuffed behind her back, he thought with a grin.
She wasn’t in the bathroom, though from the steam fogging the mirror and the damp towel he noticed hanging on a hook, she had been recently. He returned to the bedroom and spied the cuffs, open on the bed. He frowned. How dare she release herself? Of course he had known it was possible to remove the cuffs, but a proper submissive would never dare to do such a thing. He shook his head. She wasn’t going to work out, not in the long term. True, she was sexy and fun and last night had been amazing, taking her to the edge of what she could tolerate and then watching her break free, soaring away to that rarified place only a gifted Dom could lead a sub to.
He had done that. He had taught Alex to fly. He knew now that she’d tasted it, she would crave it as he did, though he didn’t know if he could take her there again. Liam and he were so connected Liam could take him to that intense, heady place almost at will. Alex was new, too untested for him to know her true potential.
He hurried down the stairs, the smell of brewing coffee luring him to the kitchen. Alex turned to him with a bright smile. His eye was drawn to her cleavage, accentuated by the tight top she was wearing. “I’m making breakfast.” She looked terribly proud as she held up a coffee mug triumphantly. He couldn’t help but smile back. He accepted the mug and poured himself some coffee.
“There’s cream and sugar on the table,” Alex announced. “I can make you an omelet—I’ve got the ingredients all ready. Would you like toast? I can put on some bacon.”
“Just coffee right now, thanks,” Daniel said. “I like to wait and eat with Liam. I haven’t showered yet. I came to release your cuffs and found you’d done it yourself.”
Alex colored. “I know I wasn’t supposed to do that. But when I saw how late it was and the two of you were still sleeping—I thought I’d surprise you with breakfast. I mean, it’s not as if I’m your real sub.”
Daniel nodded slowly. She was right. It wasn’t as if she belonged to them. By her remark, it was pretty clear she wasn’t in it for the long term. Daniel would never have removed a restraint Liam had placed upon him without express permission, but Daniel was Liam’s real sub. They could train Alex as intensively as they liked, but when the week was up, she would return to her life, a life that had nothing to do with either of them. He’d enjoyed the week of playing at Master, but was it really any more than that? If she stayed longer, might Liam grow too fond of her? Could he really bear to share the love of his life with someone else—with a woman?
Alex was watching him, a frown on her face. When he didn’t respond, her expression closed off and she turned away. She had been expecting him to refute her assertion, to say, “No, no, don’t say that. Of course you’re our real sub.”
What’s wrong with me? Daniel wondered, uncomfortable with the strange feelings he was experiencing. Was he still jealous of this girl? That was ridiculous, wasn’t it? She was no threat. She was just a diversion, a bit of fun.
