Chantelle huffs and raises her chin. I prepare myself for the challenge that’s probably going to turn into a fuck fest I have no interest being around.
I shudder at the thought.
“What are we going to do when they start wielding weapons at each other? If Santiago were here too it’d have been a blood bath.” She lets her hands fall, digging a long fingernail into Nathaniel’s chest. “All four boys are under ten,Nathaniel.”
Yep, that’s the push start on the ignition right there. Excitement builds in my father-in-laws eyes and I curse under my breath.
“Thankfully you don’t have to deal with them by yourself often and if you and Malia would let us hire someone to help then…” I say and Chantelle cuts me off with a glare.
The tension builds between the two as Chantelle instantly snaps her searing gaze back to her husband.
“No one else is raising our kids!” Chantelle snapped.
Fuck.
I need to get out of here before Nathaniel pins her against the wall.
“Is there something you needed, Nathaniel? Cause you’re keeping me from my family,” I deadpan trying to get the reason behind Nathaniel stopping me before we were interrupted.
“I’ll get with you later,” Nathaniel says in a stare down with his wife.
I grunt and head to the south wing where we had taken over with our family. When Malia had told me she was pregnant with Kai we knew we needed to be here. It’s important for Kai to be around this lifestyle most of the time, absorbing the business world and working next to us as he gets older. The condo was too small for kids and my Nonna’s house was always meant for my sister. I had always imagined her married with a family as I stayed a bitter bachelor the rest of my life.
Fate, of course, had other plans for me.
Xana wasted no time getting pregnant and marrying Breckin. She decided to stay in D.C., not that she had much of a choice with his job being with the Olin’s. They moved into the house right away, finishing her studies online, and I moved to into Malia’s condo.
When Malia stepped into leadership, she appointed me as her second in command. Breckin didn’t put up an argument as he never saw himself next to anyone but Donovan.
My feet at up the ground hungrily as I practically ran to our slice of the mansion we’ve claimed as our own. It’s only been a few hours that I’ve been gone, but any amount of time where my wife isn’t in my line of sight rises anxiety within me.
The door to the nursery was slightly ajar as I steadied my breath, pushing the door open to take in the sight of my entire world all wrapped up together. I cross my arms and lean against the door jamb.
This is all mine.
My wife, son, and daughter all wrapped together as they sleep peacefully on the rocking chair. This scene in front of me almost making all the bullshit we went through worth it in the end.
Kai’s arms are wrapped around Malia’s neck fast asleep with a fresh black eye and busted lip. I huff a laugh under my breath, shaking my head knowing we’re in for trouble as these kids age. Malia holds Aurora against her chest.
The baby makes a noise, slowly opening her blue eyes, letting them settle on me. If Kai is Malia’s clone then Aurora’s mine. Both kids got my natural tan skin and deep brown hair, but Aurora got my eyes and looks much like Xana did when she was a baby.
I move closer, ready to scoop the baby in my arms, knowing Kai won’t leave his mama for a second.
“Touch her and I’ll strangle you,” Malia hisses through a whisper.
I snort, letting my smile grow as she turns her green eyes on me. Aurora gums her fingers, staring at me with her bright blues, and Kai sighs in his sleep.
“If you’re trying to threaten me, Cupcake,” I reach out and tuck a loose curl behind her ear. “I can promise you’re only turning me on. Ready to make baby number three so soon?”
Malia narrows her eyes. “I’ll fucking castrate you, Brenner.”
“I love you, baby,” I taunt. “But I’d castrate myself if you got knocked up again. You’re a bit of a nightmare with the extra hormones.”
She raises a brow at that comment in a challenge. “You married me. You stuck your dick in me.”
“I regret nothing, nonetheless, you put me on the couch for two weeks for bringingwhitemint chocolate chip ice cream instead ofgreen.”
Malia shrugs. “Not my fault you’re stupid and don’t know that mint chocolate chip is supposed to be green, Brenner.”
